The Edge observatory, located in the trendy Hudson Yards neighborhood, is open to the public 365 days a year, without exception. However, hours vary depending on visitor traffic. There are days and weeks considered "high season," which you should keep in mind if you purchase your ticket through the official website.

  • Regular opening hours during low season: 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Extended opening hours during high season: 8:00 a.m. to midnight.

How long does the tour of The Edge last?

To give you an idea, an average tour can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour.

However, there is no set time limit for visiting the observation deck. Once you enter the building, you can stay as long as you like, taking photos, having a coffee, or simply admiring the magnificent views.

That said, it is important to arrive at the time you selected when purchasing your ticket. There is no waiting room if you arrive early, and entry is not guaranteed if you arrive outside your time slot. My recommendation is to go in advance, take a leisurely stroll around Hudson Yards, and avoid any mishaps that could jeopardize this dizzying experience.

I want to see the sunset from the viewpoint, what time should I go?

The sunset changes a lot throughout the year, given the extreme weather in New York City in both winter and summer. So it's a good idea to check when you buy your ticket. In winter, sunset can be between 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and in summer between 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. But it varies greatly.

The official website will also indicate the estimated time of sunset for each day. And if you decide to buy your ticket this way, keep in mind that you will be charged an extra €9 to see the sunset. (You can find more information about prices here: ticket prices for The Edge.

I also recommend that you arrive at least an hour before the time you want to see the sun set, as it is usually very busy and the tour tends to take longer.

If, in addition to visiting The Edge, you want to treat yourself to a cocktail or a refreshing drink at the terrace bar of its spectacular observatory, the terrace opening hours are the same as those of the viewpoint itself.

However, due to weather conditions, the outdoor terrace may close at certain times of the day.

  • Regular opening hours in low season: 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Extended opening hours during high season: 8:00 a.m. to midnight.
