The panoramic viewpoint The View, in the skyscraper The Shard, is one of the latest tourist attractions that have opened in London in the last few years and it has taken very little time to become one of the most popular.

Tickets to The Shard are flying! So if you are thinking of buying yours, I recommend you to read this post carefully because we talk about how much they are worth or how to buy them, among many other questions. Let's start!

1. What budget do I need for tickets to The Shard?

From 43 € in Hellotickets you can get a ticket without queues to The View observation deck of The Shard skyscraper, one of the most modern in London, to enjoy a breathtaking view of the skyline of the city at more than 300 meters high.

The views from the London Eye are famous but I'm not exaggerating if I say that The View has the most impressive views of the British capital. Even more than the popular Ferris wheel on the banks of the Thames because the height of The Shard is almost twice as high. You won't be able to stop taking pictures!

If you feel like treating yourself during the visit or want to surprise your partner with a romantic plan I advise you to upgrade your tickets for a little more money. From 65 € in Hellotickets you can enjoy a more premium experience while contemplating the spectacular views from The Shard in London at your feet with an exquisite glass of Moët & Chandon Imperial Brut champagne. It will be a memory you will not forget!

I recommend going to The View a little before sunset to contemplate the beautiful palette of colors that unfolds over the London sky as the sun goes down and the city lights slowly turn on. It's a magical moment!

Just remember to watch when the sunset occurs, during the dates you travel to London as this phenomenon varies depending on the month and time of year.

3. Can I visit The Shard with a tourist card?

That's right, this is the cheapest option! From 41 € you can get the London Explorer Pass (you pay for the number of sites you visit) while from 74 € you can get the London Pass (you pay for days and allows you to see more than 80 tourist attractions) in Hellotickets.

It is a very convenient option if you are planning to spend several days in the British capital and want to get the most out of your stay knowing a lot of tourist attractions. With any of these tourist cards the visit to The Shard is included but you can also access other places of interest such as Westminster Abbey, Madame Tussauds Museum or a boat trip on the Thames.

If you plan to stay in London for more than 3 days, buying a tourist pass you will save a good penny when sightseeing and you will avoid the eternal queues that form at the ticket offices of each tourist attraction because there is usually a special line for those who carry the pass.

As you can see they are all advantages but in the post The best tourist card in London we analyze in detail everything you can do with them during your trip. Do not miss it!

4. How can I save on a visit to The View at The Shard? Are there reduced rates?

Unlike other attractions to enjoy the London skyline such as the London Eye, there are currently no reduced rates to visit The View at The Shard. This means that the price is the same for all visitors regardless of age, except for children 3 years old and under, who can access the attraction for free.

If you are looking to save a little with the visit to The View, the best option I can recommend is to get one of the London tourist cards that I told you about before.

If you are thinking of coming to London to buy tickets for The View you should know that these are not sold at the box office but on the website of the skyscraper where prices are as follows:

  • Midweek Saver General Admission: from £ 25
  • Essential Ticket: from £ 39
  • Deluxe Ticket: from £ 49

These tickets must be purchased online and well in advance, as The Shard is the tallest building in Western Europe, the views from its observation deck are very impressive and, therefore, tremendously popular. It is one of the essential things to do in London!

If you want to get to The Shard quickly because you are running out of time or because you do not want to get tired doing marathon walks, for about 6 € that costs the subway ticket (depending on the area where you move) you can move in a jiffy to London Bridge station, the closest to the attraction. To learn how to use and move easily with this transport around the city, I recommend you to take a look at this Practical Guide to the London Underground.

The price of transport in London is a bit expensive compared to other European cities but you can try to save a good pinch if you take the Oyster Card or Travelcard to pay for your travel in the British capital. Your pocket will notice it!

Another option that may interest you is to buy a ticket for the London sightseeing bus with which you can explore the city while traveling comfortably seated.

But if you enjoy exploring every inch of the city on foot, you're in luck because you can get to The Shard without spending a penny by taking a pleasant stroll around the area - there's so much to see that the walk will be a short one!

For example, walk around the area of St. Paul's Cathedral and the City of London before heading towards the viewpoint The View and at the exit take the opportunity to see the Tower of London and take some pictures with the iconic Tower Bridge in the background.

Near The Shard skyscraper you will find plenty of restaurants to take a break and recharge your batteries. From pizzas, burgers or burritos to sandwiches, salads and fish. Even dishes of British gastronomy - a little bit of everything!
