Baseball is culture and religion for Americans. And the Yankees are an icon of the sport and one of the most popular teams in the Major Baseball League (MLB). Founded in 1901, they have already won the World Series 27 times! and every game they play, they arouse the passion of the crowds.

Yankee Stadium, located in the Bronx, is where the magic happens. I recommend you to visit it either watching a game if it coincides with the season or with a guided tour. You will be able to feel firsthand and for a little while, the excitement of being a New York fan.

1. Get to know Yankee Stadium at its best with a Yankees MLB game

Yankee Stadium seats more than 47,000 spectators and is the most expensive stadium ever built in the history of baseball. In addition to Yankee games, it is also home to the New York City Football Club, which competes in Major League Soccer (MLS).

But it is true that the main protagonists are the Yankees, since baseball is historically the North American sport par excellence.

When MLB is playing so you can watch the Yankees

You will only be able to see top level baseball if you travel to New York between April and October. I recommend that before you travel, you check the teams' schedules, as they often play friendly games during the rest of the year. The baseball season has three major phases:

  • Regular season: April through early October. During this time you will be able to see the Yankees play and if you are lucky, attend the derby with the Mets (their archrival New York team) or against the Boston Red Sox, another great classic.

  • The playoffs (postseason games): late September to late October.

  • The finals: between late October and early November. This is where the MLB champion will emerge.

What you need to know about baseball if you're going to Yankee Stadium

Getting tickets at a good price is usually not difficult if you organize in advance, but you should take into account some factors, such as the best place to choose your seat, the schedule and what to expect on game day. Here is a guide on how to go to a baseball game in New York to answer all your questions.

The stadium occupancy is usually very high, so I recommend you to buy your ticket in advance. You can do it on their website or at Hellotickets.

It is good to go to the stadium at least an hour before the game starts, so you can find your seat without haste and enjoy watching how the stadium is filling up and cheering.

Take some drinks and food or snacks with you, as buying food at the stadium itself is usually expensive.

How much do Yankees tickets cost to see the Yankees

If you are lucky enough to be in New York during the baseball league season, you have a good chance of seeing the Yankees. During the league they play a lot of games and every few days. So it is usually easy to get tickets (much easier than for the NBA for example).

How do I get tickets?

You can secure your Yankees tickets in advance online Hellotickets. You can also buy them at the box office directly on the day of the game, but the stadium is quite far from downtown and you run the risk of not getting in. So my recommendation, without hesitation, is to buy your ticket in advance.

Prices

Ticket prices to see the Yankees tend to vary a lot depending on the date and the team they are playing. And not only that, it will depend of course on your seat location but also on how close you are to the pitcher. So I recommend you to look very well and compare prices.

To give you an idea, the cheapest ticket at the top of the stadium and for any game, can cost you about 15 €. But for the same match, a ticket closer to the field can cost around 85 € and one in the VIP areas, from 250 € to 450 €.

If instead, the game you want to see is a classic against the Boston Red Sox, you have to think that the cheapest tickets start at about 130 €.

If you want to get the full experience of a true Yankees fan, in addition to watching a live game, you can get to know the stadium in depth through a guided tour.

There are several options for a tour of Yankee Stadium:

Classic Tour to see the inside of Yankee Stadium

This is the most typical excursion you can do to visit Yankee Stadium. In it you will be able to tour with a specialized guide, both the stadium facilities and the two museums it houses:

  • The Yankee Museum, where you will have access to hundreds of memorabilia and history of the team. Autographed balls, trophies, statues of players, photographs and baseball artifacts.

  • Monument Park, another open-air museum, where - as its name suggests - monuments, large plaques and numbers of retired players and team legends are on display.

The "Classic" tour, runs almost every day from 11:00 am to 1:40 pm and departs every 20 minutes. But keep in mind that dates and times are subject to change permanently, conditioned by the games. So I recommend that you check availability and book your ticket in advance.

Tickets can be obtained through their website: or at the box office, where the price will increase.

  • Adult price: 17 € (web)/ 22 € (box office)
  • Children (<14 years old): 17 € (web)/ 20 € (box office)
  • Seniors (>60): 17 € (web)/ 20 € (box office)
  • Children (<3): free

Classic Tour + lunch at Hard Rock Café

This option varies in that a meal at the Hard Rock Café Yankee Stadium is included as part of the tour. For this, you will be given a voucher when you enter, which you will be able to redeem at the restaurant, before or after your visit.

Access to the tour is at the entrance of the Hard Rock Café Yankee Stadium and I advise you to arrive about 15 minutes before the tour starts. They have different menus and the prices of the combo vary according to the one you choose (check the website to see at the time of your trip, what each one offers):

  • Adults: 35 € Menu 1 / 42 € Menu 2.
  • Children (-10 years): 17 € Menu 3

Pre-Game" Tour to watch the Yankees practice before the game

There is another option offered by Yankee Stadium, excellent for fans who already have a ticket to the game. It includes exclusive access to batting practice prior to the game.

Then, you will also visit the Yankee Museum, Monument Park, as in the "Classic" visit, but you will finish the tour in Section 105 of the stadium to see the players practicing before the game.

  • The price of this tour is unique: 35 € per person. And I advise you to check on the official website, the availability of schedules at the time you want to go, as they tend to vary.

Hands on History" Tour to get your hands on the Yankees

This tour is designed especially for baseball and Yankees fans. It is an exclusive access to the Yankees Museum where you will be able to touch historical articles and artifacts of the team. Bats, balls, gloves, jerseys, World Series rings and mythical objects. All this accompanied by a museum curator and great connoisseur of team history.

  • The price of this tour is around 110 € per person.

Take a free tour of Yankee Stadium with the New York Pass

Of course, one of the most recommended options for walking around New York is to buy a tourist card. If you want to visit the Yankee Stadium, I advise you to get the New York Passavailable at Hellotickets from 101 €.

This card includes the "Classic" tour of Yankee Stadium, with access to the Yankee Museum and Monument Park.

If there's one thing New York never lacks, it's good hamburgers. And one of the most typical American places to enjoy them is the Hard Rock Café.

As it could not be otherwise, at Gate 6 of Yankee Stadium, there is one where sports and food make a perfect duo.
So another way to get to know the stadium a little closer if you don't want to pay admission, is to enjoy a meal at the Hard Rock Café.

There you can enter whether or not you have a ticket to the stadium, 365 days a year from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. And of course, if it happens to be Yankees or New York City Football game day, you can watch it on one of its 15 huge screens.

You got hungry, didn't you? Here is their menu, so you can start to feel the excitement of baseball, soccer and a good American burger.
