In the city of Benidorm you can find the Mediterranean Highway, from where you can make various excursions along the Costa Blanca (Calpe, Moraira, Denia, Javea and other towns). This same highway even takes you to Valencia, one of the most outstanding cities in Spain.

Likewise, Valencia has countless bars, clothing stores and restaurants, so the excursion will be very entertaining. In the old town of Valencia you will find the Mestalla soccer st adium and the Oceanographic, but you must pay a separate entrance fee if you want to enter these places.

Another aspect that you can enjoy in Valencia is its architecture, for example, be amazed by the City of Arts and Sciences. Also, in the old part of the city you will see the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, which is surrounded by historic buildings such as the Casa Consistorial and the post office building.

After going on this kind of excursions I can give you the following advice:

  • Be physically prepared before the excursion, as some activities are based on hiking, caving or coasteering. For example, this last sport can include jumping from cliffs.
  • Practice swimming, as it is very important to know how to swim, even if you wear a life jacket.
  • Take an energy bar or snack with you in case you get hungry on the way. And, of course, I advise you to bring a bottle of water. Normally, the most complete meal of this type of excursion is consumed at the end or at a specific stop (not at any time).
  • Wear comfortable clothes, preferably beach clothes (overalls, bathing suits or wetsuits, for example). However, you should know that some excursions include the wetsuit and accessories for diving or snorkeling.

On the other hand, here are some tips to practice kayaking correctly.

What are the towns I should not miss on the Costa Blanca?

First of all, if you are staying in Benidorm, you should not miss the neighboring town of Villajoyosa, as it has traditional colorful houses and the Old Valor Chocolate Factory. Also, I recommend you to visit El Albir, a village that is part of the municipality Alfaz del Pi.

In addition, you can visit Calpe, Moraira or Denia, which are several towns with important attractions. For example, visit the castle of Denia and the castles of Moraira. There are many historical sites and beautiful views of the Mediterranean in some of these towns.

On the other hand, do not forget to visit Guadalest, which has interesting ancient monuments where you can take a few pictures. Likewise, you cannot miss a visit to Valencia, which is my favorite destination when I am staying in Benidorm. Valencia is about 1.5 hours from Benidorm.

What are the advantages of taking a guided tour vs. visiting Benidorm on my own?

Check these advantages and compare them:

  • Useful information about the place: If you take a guided tour you will get to know historical and cultural details of Benidorm, including information about archaeological sites. In other words, the guide will tell you the history of your favorite places in Benidorm or the Costa Blanca. On the other hand, if you go on your own, you will have to research the information.
  • Time management: Normally, with a guide you will be able to visit more sites in less time, depending on the tour you choose. On the other hand, when you go on your own, you may take a little longer at each site and you may not have enough time to visit the main attractions of Benidorm during 1 day.
  • Go at your own pace: This is an advantage of doing it on your own, since not all guided tours allow you to go at your own pace. For example, if you go on your own to a Costa Blanca town from Benidorm, you can spend as much time as you want at each site or attraction, as you don't have to follow a schedule.
