Is it advisable to visit Madame Tussauds Amsterdam with children?

Of course! Visiting Madame Tussauds is not the same as visiting the Van Gogh Museum or the Rijksmuseum, as the former is a very different kind of museum. Madame Tussauds focuses on realistic representations of famous singers, actors, political figures, historical characters, and more. That's why there's something for everyone at this museum, with areas for all tastes and ages.

Your children may not be very fond of history and art, but they will surely recognize some of the most famous athletes, actors, and singers. What's more, the museum has an area dedicated to cartoon characters, caricatures, and famous Marvel figures.

In addition, the wax museum offers a lot of freedom; you can take photos, touch the wax figures, and talk in a normal tone of voice without any problems.

To answer this question properly, I think it would be more useful to talk about the best collections in each category or area of the museum.

• A-List: This area features the most famous Hollywood stars. The most popular are the figures of Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, and Ryan Gosling.
• Music: Here you will see the greatest pop idols of our time. You can take photos with Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Adele, and Michael Jackson. Karaoke and dancing make this themed area an interactive experience.

The best time to visit Madame Tussauds Amsterdam is as soon as it opens, at 10 a.m. if you go in the morning, or between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. if you go in the afternoon.Since it usually takes up to two hours to explore the attraction, even if you start at 2 pm, you will finish before the Wax Museum closes.

If museum crowds are a major concern for you, keep in mind that Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are the best days of the week to visit. I also recommend visiting the city in September, October, and November in Amsterdam

As a general rule, Madame Tussauds Amsterdam is open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Last admission is at 6 p.m. There may be exceptions to the general opening hours, for example on King's Day or during school holidays.

Since the wax museum's hours in Amsterdam vary throughout the year, visiting between 10 am and 4 pm is your best bet. Last admission is 90 minutes before closing time.

The Madame Tussauds Museum in Amsterdam is also known for its long entrance lines, especially during the high season (between April and August), where visitors may have to wait more than 20 minutes.

In general, the easiest way to get a discount on your Madame Tussauds ticket is by booking online. Making your reservations through the museum's official ticket website will give you a 25 percent discount at the time of booking. All you need to do is fill in the necessary information and you're done.

However, keep in mind the date of your ticket, as this will affect your experience at the museum, since some of the exhibits may no longer be available on your date, and therefore, the discount may not be very useful.

I recommend three places to eat near Madame Tussauds Museum. These are three different restaurants located in the vicinity of the museum.

• The first option is CAU - Amsterdam, a casual Argentinean restaurant specializing in fine cuisine and steaks. It has the most extensive Argentinean wine list in Amsterdam and a private dining room, among other facilities. It is open from 1:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., making it a good choice for both lunch and dinner. The average price is $30.
• The second option is The Duchess, a restaurant with a regal style that focuses on French and Italian cuisine (Nouveau-Niçoise). It has a very pleasant atmosphere. This restaurant is open from 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The average price is $45.
• The third option, Mr Porter Amsterdam, focuses more on Dutch cuisine with some of its most typical dishes. It has spectacular views, as well as a quiet and pleasant atmosphere, ideal after a visit to the wax museum, and highly recommended for families. This restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. (quite attractive hours) and the average price is $50.
