Best Beaches in Amalfi

Among the best things to do in Amalfi, visiting the beach is undoubtedly the most important. Fortunately, if you go, you will have many beach options to choose from. Some are closer to the city than others. However, I assure you that you will find the one that best suits what you are looking for and what you like.

If you are traveling with children, you will find quiet and relaxed beaches, but if you are with friends, you can choose more lively and fun beaches. On the other hand, if you want a more romantic plan, you will also find beaches with restaurants and luxury bars nearby. There is everything on the Amalfi Coast! Do not hesitate and visit this natural paradise.

1. Marina Grande

Marina Grande or Spiaggia Grande is the main beach of Amalfi, one of the longest and busiest of the entire coast. In fact, it is right next to the town's port and close to Flavio Gioia square, where the bus and cab terminal is also located. As it is easily accessible it is a good idea to include it in any tour you take in Amalfi.

Access to this beach is free, so there will be no problem with you taking a nice swim after a tour of the city. You will find different services so that you can be as comfortable as possible and even visit it by booking a boat trip along the Amalfi coast. Among these are the rental of chairs or umbrellas, restaurants, toilets, showers and more. However, some people prefer to just lie on a towel and enjoy the scenery.

Keep in mind that if you visit this beach with children you should be careful. There is a point on the beach where you start to notice the depth of the water. My recommendation is that you always accompany the little ones and do not let them swim alone.

Il Duoglio Spiaggia is one of the best beaches in Amalfi. It is less than a ten minute bus ride from the center of Amalfi. It is a beautiful place with an admirable natural view where the mountains take all the limelight. If you want to make one of the best excursions from Amalfi, you can include this beach in your itinerary.

This is a wide beach with crystal clear water. Although it has no sand, but gray stones, you don't need special shoes to walk on it. It is usually an ideal place for people who want to relax, as it is very quiet. If you travel to Amalfi in June, which is high season, you can visit this beach to get away from the crowds.

The tranquility it transmits makes it an ideal beach for families traveling with children. Being uncrowded, it can be easier for you to keep an eye on your children while they play on the shore and you take a sunbath.

This beach is characterized by its emerald green water and its beautiful views towards the Amalfi mountains. From the port of Amalfi it is possible to travel to this beach, so you will have a nice walk before enjoying a day at the beach. You should know that it is a bit small, but this makes it less crowded.

Among the things you can do in Amalfi at night, visits to this beach stand out. It will be a good plan especially if you are looking for a romantic place to spend the night with your partner. I recommend you to go at the end of the day for a romantic dinner. These are Ristorante Santa Croce and Ristorante Da Teresa. Be sure to call ahead to make a reservation to secure a table for two.

As usual on these types of beaches, you can get multiple services such as chair rentals, umbrellas and more. Keep in mind that these services can easily cost more than 30 €, so you should plan your budget for when you travel, especially if you are going with a large group of people.

At the beautiful Marina di Vietri beach you can enjoy spectacular views no matter where you look. This tropical paradise is relatively new as it was formed in the 1950s after floods submerged the coastline. This gave rise to a seabed formed by sand and pebbles.

To go to the beach, you can take a boat trip along the Amalfi Coast. This way you will have the opportunity to observe the whole landscape. Although it is a beach with free access, you have to pay around 50 € for this kind of tours. In addition, you can access boat rental services.

If you are traveling with your family, I recommend you also take a walk in the nearest town. This whole area is characterized by beautiful pastel colors. You can take beautiful pictures and relax in this natural paradise.

If you plan to be in Amalfi for only two days, you may prefer to go to a beach close to the city center. If this is your case, I recommend you to visit Lido selle Sirene. You can reach this beach on foot in less than 10 minutes.

The name of this beach translates into English as "beach of the mermaids". Like other beaches in Amalfi, this one has myths and legends about mythological creatures that tried to enchant sailors. If you are traveling with children, I am sure they will be very excited to visit this beach just because of its name. Do you think you will find mermaids on your visit to this beach? Come and check it out!

Besides fantasizing about these creatures, you can enjoy a calm sea with crystal clear water. You will also be able to appreciate the beautiful ocean views. To enhance your experience, you can always rent awnings, chairs, dressing rooms, among other services. If you need to stay nearby or go to a good restaurant, you can visit the Aurora Hotel.

If you want to visit Amalfi for more than three days, then you will have more time to visit beaches further away from Amalfi. To get there, you can take two Sita Sud buses from the Nerano Cantone stop in Amalfi. It's about a two-hour trip, but if you have the time, it's worth it.

More specifically, this beach is located in the enclave where the Amalfi Coast meets the Gulf of Sorrento. Although initially this was a fishing area, it is now a popular tourist destination. This is because its waters are very clean and transparent.

It is important to keep in mind that this is a rocky beach. For this reason, I recommend wearing sturdy and appropriate shoes so you can walk with peace of mind. Besides being able to rent bathing facilities, showers and so on, you can go to establishments such as the Bar di Piscedda Salvatore or the restaurant Lo Scoglio.

  • Recommended if... you will spend more than two days in Amalfi, as you can take the time to travel and return to Amalfi without any problem.

La Marinella is a quiet beach located between the beaches Marina Grande and Lido delle Sirene. This is also a place you can walk to and reach in just five minutes.

If you are traveling with children, this can be a perfect destination, as its waters are shallow, so the whole family can swim in peace. Also, near the beach you can find the playground "La Pineta". It is ideal for everyone to visit this park at the end of the day.

On the beach you can access different typical services such as umbrellas, hammocks, among others. You can also go to the Pontile Il Faro and rent a boat for a nice ride. This way you will complete your day with a nice walk watching the sunset. The restaurants are a bit far from the beach, but one of the ones I recommend is Dei Cappuccini.

The Fornillo Cove is a beach located one hour by bus from the center of Amalfi. It is located in Positano and around it there are many restaurants, cafes and establishments. One of them is the Pupetto Beach Club. There you can enjoy delicious food while watching the beautiful beach scenery.

You should know that for a while this beach was nudist and, nowadays, some people go topless there. If you are traveling with friends who like to enjoy music and good drinks, you should visit this beach. The atmosphere is very youthful and has many bars with live music. Some even offer karaoke nights so you can enjoy your time here even more.

Castiglione di Ravello is a beach located in the town of Ravello, one of the most charming towns on the Amalfi Coast. I definitely recommend you to visit this beach if you are looking for a quiet atmosphere and beautiful villas around it. Keep in mind that this place is surrounded by rocks and large cliffs. For this reason, it is easy to take advantage of the shade.

To get there, you can take a bus and in less than 10 minutes you will be near the beach. Then you will have to go down a long flight of stairs to access it. Be careful if you are traveling with small children or older adults.

As in the other beaches on this list, you can access rental and food services to complete your experience. If you want to stay near this beach, you can rent apartments such as those offered by Casa Gargano, located a few meters away.

Cavallo Morto is a wild beach hidden on the Amalfi Coast. It is a small place located between Erchie and Maiori. Note that you can access it if you travel by boat or kayak, but don't worry! You can also take a bus that takes less than half an hour to drop you near the beach.

If you travel in September to Amalfi, this can be a good option to enjoy your days. During that season the heat gradually subsides and the weather is perfect for swimming and walking! My recommendation is to take the opportunity and go kayaking for an adventure.

You will recognize this beach because it is located under a cliff. The sea has an intense blue color and it is simply a marvel that you must photograph. It is recommended for people who like to practice extreme sports or simply love physical activity. Spend an unforgettable day swimming and sunbathing in this lost paradise!
