Real Madrid's stadium is one of the most important in the world. To list the historical milestones that have taken place on its turf would be too long. In its long history, the merengue club has covered itself with glory and thousands of soccer fans come here to see the 13 European Cups. However, there is a lot to see on the tour of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. So, depending on availability and time of year, you may have the chance to see:

  • Best Club in History, an audiovisual experience that explains the history of the club.
  • Presidential Box, the most exclusive area. Its seats are for executives, authorities and guests.
  • Interactive trip, aboard a replica of the first team's bus.
  • Trophy room, the flagship of the stadium. The collection is very extensive and includes jerseys, the Golden Balls of legends such as Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Figo (among others), Golden Boots and all the cups won in more than a century of history. Screens project the most important goals scored by the white team.
  • Changing rooms.
  • Players' tunnel, to test the adrenaline of match days.
  • Lawn and benches, where Madrid dreams come true.

The Santiago Bernabeu stadium tour lasts a minimum of 45 minutes and is one of the essential things to see and do in Madrid if you love soccer. It is not just a simple guided tour but a real experience. The visit of the Trophy Room alone will take you a while. In addition to the Champions Cups and League titles, you can admire the boots and jerseys of Madrid legends.

Another popular attraction is virtual reality. The videos and photomontages of the Bernabéu will take a bit of your time, but I assure you they are worth it.

If you have gone to Madrid with children do not hesitate to take the Santiago Bernabeu stadium tour. All Merengues fans dream of visiting the Madrid stadium, children included. The little ones will have the chance to see the changing rooms, admire the trophy room and enjoy the panoramic view of the pitch. They will also be able to step on the grass to feel like their idols.

Another thing they will love is the Best Club of the 20th Century room, an environment that offers a digital experience using the most advanced gamification technology.

How to get to the Santiago Bernabéu

Madrid Metro| ©Tim Adams

The legendary Merengue stadium is located a few meters from the Paseo de la Castellana, one of the longest arteries of the city. Being located in an office district - Hispanoamérica, part of the Chamartín district - it has a transport network that guarantees quick trips both to the center and to the Barajas airport.

If your plans in Madrid include a tour of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, you can choose from the following options to get there:

  • Metro - The "Santiago Bernabéu" stop (line 10) is located a short distance from the stadium. If you are staying near Puerta del Sol, you can take line 1 towards Pinar de Chamartín, get off at Tribunal and take line 10. The journey takes about half an hour. If you arrive directly from the airport, you have two alternatives: if you land at T4, you can take the Cercanías (C1 or C10) to Chamartín and, once there, take line 10 to the "Santiago Bernabéu" stop. On the other hand, if you land in terminals 1, 2 and 3, you can reach the stadium by metro line 8.
  • Bus - Lines 14, 27, 40, 43, 43, 120, 126, 147 and 150 connect various points in the capital with the "Los Blancos" stadium.
  • Train - Nuevos Ministerios station is a ten-minute walk from the Santiago Bernabéu.
  • Car - If you have a rental car, all you have to do is enter the address of the stadium in your navigator. Once you arrive, you will have to leave your car in a paid parking lot. However, this is not the most convenient option. In concomitance with the matches, many streets are closed to traffic.

If after the tour you want to have a snack, you have to take into account that the Santiago Bernabéu is located in the heart of the financial district. The neighborhood hosts the headquarters of important companies, shopping malls, residential areas and one of the most important interchanges of the city: Nuevos Ministerios. Therefore, there is no shortage of dining options.

Read on and discover our selection of bars and restaurants within walking distance of the Merengue stadium.

  • Cervecería José Luis, the classic of classics. Madrid fans go to this bar to have a few beers before the match (Paseo de la Habana 4).
  • New York Burger, the carnivores' paradise. Its specialty is cooked with smoke at low temperature. If you do not feel like a hamburger, you can opt for a ryb eye (high loin cut) or a Black Angus rib (Paseo de la Castellana 89).
  • Materia Prima, a market restaurant a few meters from the stadium. Its specialties include Russian salad, steak tartar and seafood ceviche (Calle Doctor Fleming 7).
  • Puerta 57, the Bernabéu's viewpoint. The main attraction is the large glass window overlooking the stadium lawn. It offers pinchos, raciones (tapas) and dishes of the day. If you like soccer, this is an essential stop (Calle Padre Damián s/n). Another option to enjoy the view over the pitch is the Real Café Bernabéu. It is famous for breakfast and brunch (Avenida Concha Espina 1).
  • Goa, the temple of Basque meat. Txistorras, chuletones and sirloins come directly from Oyarzun, a municipality in the province of Guipúzcoa. On match days, you can watch the match on their screens (Calle Doctor Fleming 7, 28036 Madrid).
  • Taberna del Volapié, a franchise specializing in Andalusian cuisine. The menu is varied and includes healthy salads, sandwiches, fish dishes, croquettes and much more (Paseo de la Castellana 144).
