The most comfortable and fastest option, which takes you from door to door to your hotel, is to hire a private transfer.

If you do not want to complicate and move between the airport of Florence and the city center in the most comfortable, private and fast way, it is best to hire a private transfer from the airport to your hotel in Florence.

How the private transfer service works

When you make the reservation, you will have to provide your arrival flight details so that the company can organize your pick-up in the easiest way. As soon as you land and pick up your bags from the luggage belt, your driver will be waiting for you at the airport (for you and your group).

As this is a completely personalized and private service, you will not have to share the journey with other travelers and the way will be the fastest possible: from the airport to your hotel, without interruptions.

Interesting details

  • Journey time: the journey time between Florence and its airport is from 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the traffic.
  • Pick up at the terminal: the driver will wait for you at the airport up to 45 minutes from the landing of your flight.
  • Vehicle capacity: 6 passengers
  • Luggage allowance: 1 large suitcase per passenger and a handbag or backpack (if you are carrying bulky luggage, please consult the company at the time of booking).
  • Customer service: both Hellotickets and the transfer company are available to answer any questions you may have.
  • Special needs: these vehicles are not adapted for wheelchair users but they are accessible for baby strollers.

If you opt for the most comfortable option on your arrival in the city, you may also be interested in hiring this transfer back to the airport in Florence when your trip ends and you have to return to the airport.

Regarding its operation, it is exactly the same as the arrival transfer, so you can see all the details in the previous paragraph. The only difference is that the pick-up will take place at your hotel, for which you will have to provide the address of your accommodation and the time you want to be picked up.

Other options: streetcar, bus and cab

Tramway

The tramway is the most economically priced transportation option between Florence airport (only 1,5 Euro per person per way). The duration is about half an hour and the trains depart from T2. The only drawback is that you will have to carry your luggage and that upon arrival in the center of Florence you will have to transfer to your hotel.

Regarding timetables, the tramway runs almost all day long: from 5.05 am to 00.00 am and on Saturdays and Sundays until 1.32 am.

Shuttle bus

Another equally fast option, but not as advisable as the tramway as it is more expensive (6€ each way, 10€ if you buy a round trip) and does not bring any additional advantage, is to take a shuttle bus between Florence airport and the city center. Buses leave from the airport and drop you off in the central Piazza Stazione, next to the Santa Maria Novella Train Station.

Regarding their schedules, they have departures every day, including Sundays and holidays, and every 30 minutes. They operate between 5.30 a.m. and 8.30 p.m. and every 60 minutes from 5.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. and every 60 minutes from that time until midnight.

They belong to BusItalia's Vola in bus company, and you can read more information about bus tickets on their website, although you can buy them directly on board the bus, although you can only buy a one-way ticket.

Cab

Florence airport, of course, has a cab rank at the arrivals terminal. The service has a fixed rate and an additional €1 for each suitcase that is transported as an additional supplement. Keep in mind that not all cab drivers speak English or Spanish, so have the address of your destination ready to make communication easier.
