Step by Step

By taking the 4-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu from Cuzco, you will experience an intimate and spiritual pilgrimage journey, which will allow you to get in touch with the depths of nature, until you reach the historic sanctuary of the Inca culture, a World Heritage Site.

You will follow in the footsteps of the gods of the Inca Empire on a 4-day, 3-night excursion through the mythical landscapes that make up this Andean region of Peru. A route of approximately 42 km will take you to points up to 4,200 metres high, with professional guides in mountaineering and history.

After packing your travel bag of up to 7 kg, included in the experience, a driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Cuzco, to take you to the meeting point and departure of the tour that has Machu Picchu as its final destination.

Day 1

The hike will start from the meeting point at Km 82. In the company of your small group and your expert guide, you will set off towards Patallacta, an archaeological site of the Inca culture where you will be able to appreciate the immensity of the Andes with impressive panoramic views. Then you will complete the Hatunchaca - Ayapata route. Here you will camp and rest to prepare for the next day.

Day 2

The most challenging trek of the trek begins on day 2, from Ayapata to the Dead Woman's Pass, where you will reach the highest point of the expedition at 4,215 metres. As you soak up the spirituality and mysticism of the place, your guide will perform a ceremony of thanksgiving to the Apus gods, following Inca tradition. Then you will begin the descent to the Pacaymayu Valley. On the way back, you will visit Runqurakay and Sayacmarca, two archaeological sites that are living traces of the Inca Empire. The day will end in Chaquicocha, the ideal place to watch the stars from the camp.

Day 3

Getting to know the culture and tradition of the Inca culture is the most important part of the trek, so day 3 will be full of history, legends and dreamlike surroundings. Phuyupatamarka, Intipata and Wiñay Wayna are the places you will visit during the trek, three essential sites of the Inca Trail, where you will see impressive architectural structures built by the Incas, made of granite stones.

Day 4

The final day of the Inca Trail will take you to the religious and cultural epicentre of the Inca Empire, Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the world. You will take an unforgettable hike through the heart of the Peruvian Andes to Inti Punku, known as the Gateway to the Sun. The hike is downhill and lasts approximately one hour. At the end, you will be at Machu Picchu, where you will have free time to explore it at your own pace.

And to complete your transcendental journey along the Inca Trail, after visiting the points of your choice in Machu Picchu, you will take a bus to Aguas Calientes. There you will board a spectacular scenic train back to Cuzco.
