Step by Step
Followthe trail of American writer Margaret Mitchell by joining this Gone with the Wind tour of Atlanta. This is her most important work and one of the world's most popular literary classics.
You will visit, in comfortable private transportation, the Gone with the Wind Museum in Marietta, north of Atlanta. Here you'll see the original props used in the award-winning film adaptation of the novel, directed by legendary filmmaker Victor Fleming and released in 1939, which went on to win the Best Picture Oscar the following year.
You'll stroll through the Inman Park neighbourhood, one of the most popular in the city. This was the inspiration for part of the book, where, for example, the Battle of Atlanta took place, a key point in the plot.
You will learn about the life and legacy of Mitchell, who won the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for her famed work, which she wrote over the course of a decade.
In it, she immortalised, in a classically romantic tone, typical southern life at the time, using the conflict of the American Civil War as a focus.
You will explore the Ansley Park neighbourhood , where Margaret Mitchell was born and raised. You'll pass her childhood home, then enter the impressive Oakland Cemetery, where the writer and much of her family are buried.
