General admission tickets to the Alcazaba have a standard price throughout the year and are generally around 3.50 euros. You have to know that within the complex where the Alcazaba is located, there is also the Gibralfaro Castle, so if you want to visit each of the monuments separately, you will have to pay approximately 3,50 euros for each one.

Although they are in the same place, they are both far enough apart that you will have to pay an individual entrance fee to see them. In the case of the Alcazaba, it is located in the foothills of the mountain. Going back to the price of general admission tickets, you have to know that the prices of these tickets apply to the general public.

No matter the date you want to go or the time of day you go, in general these tickets always cost about 3.50 euros. This price includes the tour on your own of all the facilities, in which you must always respect the rules during your visit.

Tickets can also be purchased for groups of more than 10 people. In case you want to visit the Alcazaba with your family or friends, you can do so by paying a little less per ticket. For groups of at least 10 people this ticket can cost around 2,50 euros per person.

Although there are certain ways in which you can buy tickets to this place online, generally you must pay for the tickets mainly at the box office, which is the way in which this enclosure admits the payment of the entrance.

Regarding the payment methods, you will find out when you arrive at the box office, what types of payment can be accepted to buy your ticket. It is important to know that to buy your ticket at the ticket office, you have to arrive about 20 or 30 minutes before the time you want to start the tour.

As this is basically the main way you can buy tickets, there are always many people on site, waiting to take their ticket and start the tour. In a way the physical ticket is advantageous because you get a nice souvenir of your visit to the place.

As in the case of individual tickets, tickets for large groups of more than 10 people must be purchased at the ticket office to get the discount, and likewise, I recommend that you arrive at the site at least 20 to 30 minutes before the tour you expect to do.

The Alcazaba is accessible to all public, but in the case of children, unlike other museums and other places of tourist, historical and cultural interest in Spain and in Malaga specifically, tickets are usually the same price as tickets for adults.

In this way, children must pay a full entrance fee of 3.5 dollars each. This way, you know that to enter the place with children, you will have to count the entrance fee for them, at full price.

The price for schools may vary a little, because a special guided tour service is offered, dramatized or with the special creation of certain gymkhanas that will motivate children to want to know more details of the story that is told inside the Alcazaba. In this sense, tickets for each child can be located between 6 and 8 euros.

As you well know, both the Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba, are monuments that are within the same complex in the mountain of Gibralfaro, however, are not monuments that are so close to each other as to understand that visiting one is visiting the other.

To begin with, you have to know that to visit both museums you will need between 3 and 3 and a half hours, because in each of them you can easily spend about an hour and a half touring each space inside. In any case, if you have the time to do it, it is a good tour to see for a whole day or at least half a day.

In case you want to visit both places at the same time, you have two options. One is to buy the tickets individually and enjoy the Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba individually.

The other option is to buy a combined ticket for the complete tour of both monuments, which you can buy at the ticket office the same day you go. In the latter case, the general admission ticket can cost approximately 5.50 euros per person. In case you attend with a group of more than 10 people, you can pay per ticket at least 4 euros.

Like many of the top 10 museums in Malaga, as for example the Carmen Thyssen museum, the Alcazaba is one of those that offer you some moments to enjoy the facilities for free. This is very interesting to know in case your trip to Malaga coincides with the museum's free day.

The free entrance for all public is available every Sunday, a day of the week that is generally chosen by the rest of the museums to offer free visits. For both the Alcazaba and the Gibralfaro Castle, free admission on Sundays starts at 2:00 pm.

There are no free tickets according to age or disability, so whenever you go to the Alcazaba or the Gibralfaro Castle, you will have to pay, either the full entrance fee or a reduced one, as the case may be.

When it is free hours inside the monument, all visitors are assured access, without exception. As you know, all people who want to enter this place outside Sundays, which is the day that the free admission is activated, must pay to do so.

It is important that before going for free to the Alcazaba, you take into account the number of people who usually visit these monuments taking advantage of the free hour, so I recommend you to go at least two hours before closing time, in order to enjoy the most of the visit inside both places.

Since there are no free benefits for any kind of public in the Alcazaba, they do offer tickets with reduced prices, which means that they ask you a lower price than the general admission in case you meet the conditions requested at the box office.

Thus, the reduced tickets only apply to students, people with disabilities of at least 33%, people over 65 years old, retired people and unemployed people. In case you do not fill any of these seats, then you will have to pay your full admission fee.

The ticket discount is more than 50 % of the normal ticket, and the price for reduced tickets is approximately 1.50 euros. These ticket discounts apply every day of the week including holidays when the venue is open to the public.

How much is the entrance fee if you want to add a guided tour of the Alcazaba of Malaga?

Guided tours of the Alcazaba are well worth it, especially because thanks to this type of guided tour you will get to know much more in depth the rich history and culture that lies behind these walls. Whether you include the guided tour or not, this is a tour that is considered one of the best excursions in Malaga for its historical and cultural contribution.

The place offers different types of tours to choose from if you want to enjoy the visit to the monuments without missing any detail. The guided tours are classified into: classic tours, private tour, school tour and free tour.

Of course each one has its own price list and schedule. I tell you a little more about their prices, if you want to know more information about the schedules of the Alcazaba, I recommend you to read more in depth about that topic.

Classic Tour

In the case of the first option, which is the classic tour, it is a guided tour with the experts of the place that will tell you everything you need to know about the Alcazaba and its history. You will also be able to share with other tourists who are in that place to know closely this pair of monuments.

This is a tour that you can do alone, with your family or with your friends, also this kind of tours are activities that you can do in Malaga with children. It is for all the public. As for its price, this can range between 4 and 10 euros, depending on the condition of each visitor.

From Monday to Saturday, children from 4 to 15 years old must pay 4 euros approximately to enjoy the tour with entrance included, while students pay around 5 euros and the rest of the adult public must pay to enter at least 6 euros.

On Sundays the prices go up a little, placing the price of the guided tour with entrance included for children between 4 and 15 years old, at approximately 6 euros. Students must pay around 8 euros and the rest of the public who want a guided tour, have to pay at least 10 euros each.

Private tour

In the case of the private tour, the conditions change a bit because it will be a tour that is aimed at groups of people, family or friends traveling together. If this is your case, then this will be your best alternative, pay for a joint ticket and enjoy a personalized and completely private tour of the entire complex of the Alcazaba.

In this case, prices may vary according to the size of the group, being sectioned into three prices: one for small groups, one for medium groups and one for large groups.

If you go with a small group of family and friends you can pay approximately 85 euros per group. They have to attend between one and four people, not more than that amount. If they are groups of between 5 and 12 people, then the guided tour with admission included will cost 130 euros per group.

When it comes to larger groups ranging from 13 to 25 people, then the entrance fee plus guided tour per group is 185 euros. In all cases the tour lasts between one and one and a half hours.

School Tour

This is especially aimed at groups of children and schoolchildren, so it escapes from the type of tours that are accessible to tourists. But I will explain how it works. In this type of school tours you must pay per student between 6 and 10 euros.

In this case, the payment depends not only on the number of students but also on the type of tour. In these school tours there are three ways to visit the Alcazaba. One of them is with dramatized visits, another is as a historical and cultural tour and the third type is with gymkhanas included.

Each of the ways of touring the site is available for certain age groups. But in any case, the prices of each of the practices vary depending on the number of children in each group. The historical and cultural tours are priced at about 6 euros for more than 50 students and about 8 euros for less than 50 students.

The dramatized visits cost at least 8 euros per child in the case of groups of 50 or more children, and the cost will be 10 euros per child if the group is less than 50 children. The gymkhanas have the same price as the cultural visits.

Prices of the entrance to the Alcazaba of Malaga in high season vs. low season

The prices are always the same in any season of the year. In the Alcazaba there is no price distinction because the monument is visited during the busiest season of the year during the time when the city is deserted.

This is a great advantage because it means that it will always be a good option to include in your 10 activities to do in Malaga, without thinking if it will be a cheaper or more expensive activity than at other times.

How to save when visiting the Alcazaba of Malaga?

One of the best ways to save on the visit to the Alcazaba is certainly to go on Sundays when the entrance is free, but this has its disadvantages and is that you will still have to pay for a guided tour if you want someone else to explain everything about the place you are visiting.

If you decide to take a guided tour, I recommend you to choose the shared tour instead of the private one, because it basically offers you the same experience except that in this tour you will be able to share with other people outside your travel group. And without a doubt, the savings is remarkable, taking into account the general price of a normal guided tour that reaches 10 euros.

Another thing you have to know is that to get to the Alcazaba, you can also buy a card of the tourist bus of Malaga, which will take you to some of the most important places in the city, including this pair of monuments. I recommend you to look for information about this tourist bus that will save you money on your visit to the city and the Alcazaba.
