Step by Step

Explore the geological wonders of Europe's highest active volcano on this excursion to Taormina and Etna from Catania.

You'll get exclusive access to the Etna Park Nature Reserve , an area of volcanic activity where you'll have the opportunity to hike the Silvestri Craters at an altitude of 1,900 metres on the southern slope of the mountain.

As an alternative to walking to the top, you can take the cable car up to the top and then board a Jeep to the Grotta dei Tre Livelli, a lava cave where you can enter with a professional guide and all the necessary equipment.

To get to know the local culture and tradition, you will taste exquisite Sicilian products, such as honey, wine and olive oil, produced on Etna.

After the volcano adventure, you will depart for Taormina, where attractions and monuments await you, such as the Ancient Theatre, built during the Hellenistic era and later repurposed during the Roman Empire to hold epic gladiator fights with a capacity of about five thousand spectators.

In Corso Umberto, the main street of the historic city centre, you will have the opportunity to visit bars, terraces and typical restaurants of the area. The tour continues through legendary places such as the Duchi di Santo Stefano palace, an architectural jewel in Gothic style dating back to the 14th century.

In Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II you will visit Palazzo Corvaja, a trace of the heyday of the Middle Ages in the region, while at the Madonna della Rocca Sanctuary you will have a beautiful panoramic view of the Ionian Sea.

Going down through Taormina, in the coastal area of Mazzarò, you will meet the enchanting Isola Bella, an island with crystal clear waters where you can swim if the tide is low. Around the beach, you will see small viewpoints that are ideal spots to take a photo and capture this unforgettable trip.

A very complete experience with many unique and fun moments in between, a pity that the weather was not on our side the day we had to do it. Highly recommended.

The experience on the tour was very good, although in the cable car I did not have such a good time because of my fear of heights. I don't think it's a tour I would repeat again, but it was worth doing. Recommended.
