Step by Step

The Wall Museum, at the East Side Gallery, has been offering a unique multimedia exhibition on the history of the Berlin Wall since 2016. It is the first and only museum to tell this iconic story in its entirety.

It takes you from 1945 to 1990 through a moving narrative that recounts the events leading up to, the construction of, and the consequences of the Berlin Wall.

This audiovisual exhibition will transport you, via its more than 100 screens, back to Germany in the middle of the last century and the dramatic historical events that shaped it:

    The young man at the front desk was very helpful with the layout of the museum, so we got organized and had a great visit.

    We were able to hear very moving stories, many of them portraying families trying to flee. Definitely a very interesting visit, recommended especially for adults or young people.

    You can purchase an audio guide for an additional 5 euros, which makes the visit much easier and more interesting. We did that and supplemented the information by reading the texts on the walls. We took out one audio guide for the whole group so it is totally worth it.
