From attractive sports tournaments, to technology conferences and festivals of ancient traditions, you'll find a wide variety of things to see and do in Copenhagen during the month of September. But it's also a great time to visit the city and take beautiful pictures with the fall foliage.

You will love to take tours around the city to experience its early autumn colors and discover the other amazing activities Copenhagen has to offer.

1. Enjoying technology and good barbecue at TechBBQ

TechBBQ is one of the largest and most significant events of its kind in Scandinavia and is basically a gathering of tech and barbecue lovers to share thoughts, innovations and food.

This is a good opportunity to taste that part of Danish cuisine that you don't see so much in the gastronomic tours of Copenhagen, which I also recommend.

During the event, you can participate in discussions about the latest technology trends, make valuable contacts in a cozy and vibrant atmosphere, get inspired by speeches from leading industry speakers and enjoy good old-fashioned barbecue, accompanied by exquisite drinks.

  • Price: to enter this event and enjoy all the attractions inside, you will have to pay around 745 euros.

2. Attend the Fredagsrock

In the Tivoli Gardens, until the end of September, open-air concerts take place every Friday as part of the Fredagsrock event. If you join, you can enjoy good music in a beautiful setting, as the Tivoli Gardens are one of the main attractions of the Danish capital.

Best of all, it is a free festival where they play music for all tastes, from pop and rock, to rap and jazz.

But not only I recommend you to go to the Tivoli Gardens for this event, but also to reserve a few hours of your day to see it quietly in the daylight. And did you know that it is the oldest amusement park in Denmark and the one with one of the oldest roller coasters in the world? In addition, in autumn its vegetation is more beautiful than ever.

3. Get to know the country better

How about taking a trip to the main Danish sights outside the capital? In September the weather is still good enough to enjoy everything the country has to offer in the open air and, the best thing is that you can do things that perhaps in high season are more in demand and it is more difficult to find a place. In addition, you can find better prices.

One of the examples is to make excursions to the surroundings and I propose you one: make an excursion to Roskilde, Frederiksborg and Kronborg, three essential places in Denmark.

In this excursion you will visit places like the castle of Kronborg, which inspired Shakespeare to write Hamlet, and the palace complex of Frederiksborg, one of the maximum representations of the Danish monarchy.

4. Make the most of the weather by bike

Obviously, summer is when the weather is at its best in the capital of Denmark, but as always, the downside is that it is when you will find the most tourists. Therefore, people who have availability and more flexibility, prefer to travel to Copenhagen from May to September.

The weather is not so good, but it is still nice and it is the last chance to see the city before the freezing cold starts to arrive. So it is the perfect time to take a bike tour in Copenhagen and discover the main sights without so many people and with a nice weather.

The best thing about this kind of activities is that you are accompanied by a guide* who also tells you curious facts about the city so you start to know it in depth and see it with different eyes.

The best thing about this activity is that you can participate in sessions in Spanish, Portuguese or Danish, as you wish. During the festival you can listen to poetry readings, book presentations and attend a small book fair with new publications.

Basically, this is a non-profit event that you will enjoy being part of and learn more about the different cultures of the Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries.

At this festival you will have the opportunity to enjoy the orchestra of a great Danish musician who annually offers a series of concerts dedicated to the composer Joseph Haydn.

Joseph Haydn is considered one of the greatest figures of European music. Despite the importance of this great musician for European musical development, history has tended to place his works in the shadow of other composers such as Mozart and Beethoven.

Nowadays, and thanks to the festival that takes place every year in Copenhagen, you have the opportunity to enjoy Haydn's music, to discover his exciting and subtle symphonic universe in a musical journey that you will not forget.
