Step by Step

Get a taste of Danish cuisine on this gastronomic walking tour of Copenhagen that lasts around four hours. A professional guide will accompany you and the group of about 12 travellers. During the walk through the centre of Denmark's capital, you will pass by different places where you will have a food and drink tasting.

Traditional Danish food is based on what can be easily grown or harvested during the country's short summers. Cabbage, root vegetables, meat, fish and rye bread are staples. Wild berries are also a favourite in Danish cuisine.

But what you'll see most in the city are the famous Danish hot dogs. You can try them with home-brewed beer in one of the taverns you can enter with your reservation.

With your guide you will make your way through the Torvehallern indoor market. This is the most popular market in the capital and there you can make several stops at the 80 shops, such as the one with handmade cheeses that have even been awarded Michelin stars.

Also famous are the candies and liquorice if you want a sweet taste in your mouth, although you certainly won't want to miss the chocolate marshmallows, which are much loved both at home and abroad.

Denmark also has a very green culture in its daily life, and therefore in its food. You can also see this with your own eyes when you eat smørrebrød, sourdough bread sandwiches with mainly organic and free-range ingredients.

On this tour you will also have the opportunity to pass several monuments such as the Copenhagen Observation Tower and Rosenborg Castle.

The Danish craft beers are much better than I thought, they have a unique taste that doesn't weigh you down, I bought some to share with my husband afterwards.
