Step by Step

Buying a ticket for the Bitexco Financial Tower gives you access to the observation deck of this skyscraper. Externally, it is notable for its leaf shape and original structure, with interconnected inclined cylinders. The vantage point is on the 49th floor, on a balcony 178 metres above sea level. The ascent is made in a particularly fast lift (7 metres per second!).

The silhouette of the skyscraper was designed by the American architect Carlos Zapata. It also has a spectacular helipad that pays homage to the country in the shape of a local flower: a lotus in bloom. It's not the tallest in Vietnam, but the view is simply spectacular. From the top, you can admire the following points of interest:

  • Notre-Dame Cathedral - Built in the late 19th century, it is distinguished by its neo-Romanesque style and red brick façade imported from Marseille. It overlooks Dong Khoi Street, the economic and cultural centre of the city.
  • Town Hall - Renaissance style building, designed by the Gallic architect P. Gardes at the end of the 19th century. In front of the entrance stands a statue of Vietnamese revolutionary and politician Ho Chi Min.
  • Vinhomes Central Park - One of Ho Chi Minh City's most modern and luxurious neighbourhoods. It is situated on the banks of the river and encloses residential and tertiary towers, surrounded by a large green area.
  • Ben Thanh Market - Notable for its tower with four clocks, one on each side. It is very bustling but worth a visit, as inside you will find all kinds of goods. It was built in colonial times and was originally called Les Halles.

The skyscraper is located in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City and a stone's throw from the Saigon River (2 Hải Triều, Bến Nghé, Quận 1).

The view was great, but the elevator ride scared me a lot. It goes very fast! However, the attention and the experience of being at the top of this beautiful skyscraper made up for it.
