Step by Step

Experience an unforgettable experience as you tour Arlington National Cemetery, one of the most historic cemeteries in the United States, dedicated to the burial of servicemen and women who have served the country in local and international wars since the 19th century.

The tour will begin at the Welcome Center, where you will see historical artifacts alluding to the cemetery's importance to the country's society.

You will discover the most emblematic monuments and sites of the cemetery on a walking tour of approximately two hours, with a professional guide who will tell you the history of the place, where you will visit essential sites such as:

  • President John F. Kennedy's Tomb: you can pay your respects at President Kennedy's mausoleum, surrounded by the Eternal Flame monument.
  • Tomb of the Unknown Soldier: considered the most iconic site in the cemetery. The remains of an unidentified soldier who died in World War I lie here.
  • USS Maine Memorial: enter the monument that honours the soldiers killed in the explosion of the battleship USS Maine (ACR-1) in Havana harbour in 1898.

As you enter the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, in addition to exploring an iconic structure with an incredible and poignant history, you will witness the changing of the guard ceremony for the soldiers of the 3rd US Infantry Regiment, popularly known as The Old Guard.

Arlington Cemetery is also home to the graves of two other members of the Kennedy family: First Lady Jackie Kennedy and the President's brothers, Edward "Ted" Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy, which you will also have the opportunity to visit on this tour.

Good tour, quite complete and with a lot of historical content. I found it a very interesting visit, although the place is still a cemetery and may seem a little unpleasant for some people.
