Taking a trip to Vigo with children is not a bad idea, in fact, in this busy city there are many plans to do with them, no matter what time of the year you go. From January to December you will be able to find things to do that they will enjoy.

Visiting the zoo is one of the best things to see and do in Vigo, especially when you go with children. Giant slides, skate parks and quiet bike rides are a must for that family visit in Vigo, because they are also adapted to the age of each child.

The O Grove Aquarium is one of the best options for plans to do with children in Pontevedra, near the city of Vigo, and this is thanks to the large number of marine species that you can see in the place. If time permits, you will also be able to see many birds of prey that are sheltered inside the aquarium.

This is one of the best places to visit with children thanks to the exhibits of the larger marine animals, which are the ones that usually impress children. It is a good plan to do on weekdays and also during the weekend.

Among the species that you can see in this place are those that live in the Rias Baixas and also in the Atlantic. I recommend you to leave enough time to visit the aquarium, in fact, this is one of the best activities that I recommend you to do in Pontevedra once you have done a good tour around the historic center.

This place is ideal to be in contact with nature, not only talking about trees and flowers, but also the fauna that inhabits the place, different animals of various popular and traditional species of Galicia. The lakes and the slide area for children, is the part of the park that they will like the most so it is a place without waste.

Inside the farm you can find at least three buildings: the main house, the house of the cellars and the house of the landlords. In these urban parks you can find slides for all sizes and ages, for small children and also for teenagers or older children. One of the advantages of these urban parks is that they do not have an entrance fee and you can go as many times as you want and at the time you want.

It is a good plan to always include in your outings with children if you are going to visit Vigo in 4 days or more. In itself the Museo do Mar de Galicia is a good place to visit with children because they love to see the large number of marine objects and artifacts from the history of the port of Vigo, but beyond that, there is a special space that they like even more and that is the aquarium.

In the aquarium of the Museum, which is undoubtedly one of the best museums in Vigo, you can find lots of marine species that inhabit the area of the Rias Baixas and the Atlantic Ocean. One of the best experiences you can find in the aquarium of this museum is the route that follows the samples of species.

When I talk about sample routes, I am referring to the way in which the different species are presented to visitors: first the species that live on the coasts, then those whose habitat is located in the Rías Baixas and finally those that live on the island. All this is well explained in the tour of the museum.

The best thing about this park is that it is divided into areas according to the difficulty of each of the tricks shown.

Hiking trails are a real adventure for children, that's why one of the best plans you can do with them is to go into the Aloia mountain in the town of Tui. Something that will draw your attention to Mount Aloia to take the children, is that they have small and short trails, suitable for walking with them without tiring them too much.

One of the things that you and the children will like the most about visiting this place is that it has five viewpoints, where they can see incredible views of the Miño river. In addition, if you go with children who are interested in history and archaeological remains, this is one of the places where you can find this kind of sites.

If you go with a tour guide to see the archaeological sites within the park, you can learn about history beyond what can be seen with the naked eye. On the clearest days you can have panoramic views of the entire park, which is why this visit is one of the best things to see and do in Vigo in summer.

The most popular horseback rides are the ones in Monte Galiñeiro and Mougas. The most fun of these rides is that you will be able to discover the most beautiful natural spots just outside the city. 10. Getting lost in the enchanted forest of Aldán

The forest of Aldán is a hidden gem of the Rías Baixas. It is located very close to Vigo, so I consider traveling to this destination one of the best excursions from Vigo. In this case, it is a park that is called enchanted forest. Already with the name the children automatically want to know it.

Inside the forest there are many things to see and photograph, including trails with lush trees, lush vegetation and especially small buildings that look like something out of a fairy tale. This place leaves a lot to the imagination and is one of those spaces to get lost for a whole morning and get to know it.

What brings the magical feature to this place is undoubtedly the castle of O Frendoal, a construction that was left half-built and was intended to serve as a castle for the Counts of Canalejas. Nowadays it is in a state of abandonment, tucked in the undergrowth and only its fortified façade remains, a perfect setting for imagining magical stories and legends.

  • Hours: You can enter at any time you want.
