In itself the Museo do Mar de Galicia is a good place to visit with children because they love to see the large number of marine objects and artifacts from the history of the port of Vigo, but beyond that, there is a special space that they like even more and that is the aquarium.

In the aquarium of the museum, which is undoubtedly one of the best museums in Vigo, you can find many marine species that inhabit the area of the Rias Baixas and the Atlantic Ocean. One of the best experiences you can find in the aquarium of this museum is the route that follows the samples of species.

When I talk about sample routes, I am referring to the way in which the different species are presented to visitors: first the species that live on the coasts, then those whose habitat is located in the Rías Baixas and finally those that live on the island. All this is well explained in the tour of the museum.

The neighborhood of Barreiro is one of the places in Vigo where it is possible to find good tracks to practice skateboarding, BMX or on skates, being the one in Navia one of the best so far, which has a total of about 2,000 square meters. The best thing about this park is that it is divided into areas according to the difficulty of each of the tricks shown.

Something that will draw your attention to Monte Aloia is that it has small and short trails, suitable for walking with the little ones without tiring them too much.

It has five viewpoints where you can see incredible views of the river Minho. In addition, if you go with children who are interested in history and archaeological remains, it is one of the places where you can find this kind of sites. On the clearest days you can have panoramic views of the entire park. And if you are bike lovers, you can opt for a path suitable for leisurely bike rides. There are several places in Vigo where you can take the kids horseback riding. Horseback rides usually take you to some of the best places in the city, and always in the company of an expert guide who will guide you regarding the behavior of the horses and how to ride, in case you don't know how to do it.

The most popular horseback rides are the ones in Monte Galiñeiro and Mougas. The most fun of these rides is that you will be able to discover the most beautiful natural spots just outside the city. It is one of the best activities to do with children during the weekend because it is an activity that they enjoy and at the same time it is relaxing.

The Aldán forest is one of the best things to see and do in Vigo, a hidden gem of the Rías Baixas. It is located very close to Vigo, so I consider traveling to this destination one of the best excursions from Vigo. In this case, it is a park called "bosque encantado" (enchanted forest). Already with the name the children automatically want to know it.

Inside the forest there are many things to see and photograph, including trails with lush trees, lush vegetation and, above all, small buildings that look like something out of a fairy tale. This place leaves a lot to the imagination and is one of those spaces to get lost for a whole morning and get to know it.

What brings the magical feature to this place is undoubtedly the Castle of O Frendoal, a construction that was left half-built and was intended to serve as a castle for the Counts of Canalejas. Nowadays, it is in a state of abandonment, tucked in the undergrowth and only its fortified façade remains, a perfect setting for imagining magical stories and legends.

The O Grove Aquarium is one of the best options for plans to do with children in Pontevedra, very close to Vigo, for the large number of marine species that you can see in the place. If the weather allows it, you will also be able to see many birds of prey.

It is one of the best places to visit with children thanks to the exhibitions of larger marine animals, which are the ones that usually impress children.

Among the species you can see are those that live in the Rias Baixas and also in the Atlantic. I recommend you to leave enough time for the visit. In fact, it is one of the best activities I recommend you do in Pontevedra once you have had a good tour of the historic center.
