Barcelona El Born Guided Tour

This guided tour of El Born in Barcelona begins next to the Arc de Triomf, from where you’ll venture into one of the most fascinating neighbourhoods of the old town. Accompanied by a guide, you’ll wander through its streets whilst discovering how historical events, medieval architecture and local life have shaped this part of the city.

The walk will take you past places such as the former Monastery of Sant Pere de les Puel·les, the exterior of the spectacular Palau de la Música Catalana and the Santa Caterina Market, one of the most characteristic markets in the city centre. During the tour, the guide will use photographs and images to help you understand how Barcelona has evolved over the centuries.

You’ll also learn about the history of the Basilica of Santa María del Mar, one of the neighbourhood’s great landmarks, and the nearby Fossar de les Moreres, closely linked to the events of 1714. The route continues to the Born Centre de Cultura i Memòria, where remnants of early 18th-century Barcelona can still be seen.

The tour ends at the Parc de la Ciutadella, a former fortress later transformed into one of Barcelona’s most important parks and the main venue for the 1888 World’s Fair.
