Step by Step

This day trip to Zakopane from Kraków takes you on a journey of discovery through the Podhale region and some of Poland’s most spectacular mountain landscapes. After being collected from your accommodation, you’ll set off for Chochołów, a picturesque village known for its traditional wooden houses built by the highlanders.

The route continues to Zakopane, considered the Polish capital of skiing and one of the country’s most popular holiday destinations. You’ll take the funicular up Gubałówka Mountain, from where you can admire the peaks of the Tatra Mountains, and visit iconic sites such as the great Wielka Krokiew ski jump.

You’ll also have some free time on Krupówki, Zakopane’s most famous street, lined with shops, traditional stalls, restaurants and cafés. You can stroll at your own pace, browse for souvenirs and sample some local specialities. The experience also includes a short tasting of traditional mountain cheese.

To round off the day, you’ll visit the Chochołów thermal baths, where you’ll have up to 3 hours to relax in indoor and outdoor hot water pools, including a mineral water pool. You’ll then be driven back in comfort to Kraków and dropped off at your chosen address.

The funicular was great fun and the views from the top were lovely. Then a hot bath rounded off a perfect day.

All in all, a good day. I could have done with a bit more explanation at times, but the tour itself is well worth it.
