Step by Step

Discover one of the most enigmatic buildings in the capital of Sicily with this guided tour of Palermo's Palazzo Conte Federico, lasting approximately 60 minutes. Enter this prestigious palace, still home to the family of Count Alessandro Federico, and explore the noble floor of the palace, as well as its 12th century Arab-Norman tower. Visit each and every room decorated with original period furniture and see numerous collections of antique weapons and ceramics.

Located in the heart of Palermo's historic centre, and just a few steps from the Royal Palace, you will visit the oldest part of the building known as "Torre di Scrigno", which served as a fortress to defend the city. See this Arab-Norman tower dating back to the 12th century and admire two beautiful stained glass windows, a Norman mullioned window and an Aragonese one. Here you will also see the authentic coats of arms of the city of Palermo, the Suevi and the Aragonese who ruled it.

Let Count Alessandro Federico and his family guide you through the different rooms and chambers of the palace while you and your companions enjoy a private tour through history. Take a stroll through the inner courtyard, one of the most beautiful and least known in the city, and through the grand red marble staircase to the noble floor. Here you will explore its many rooms and listen to the count's detailed explanations of each room.

In the various rooms you can admire precious furniture and antiques, as well as paintings by famous artists of the time, numerous 18th century frescoes, and a beautiful collection of antique ceramics. Enter the Knights' Hall to admire not only valuable antiques and paintings, but also an impressive collection of weapons .

Due to several reconstructions that the palace has undergone over the centuries, you will be able to observe various architectural styles. From the high painted ceilings, the baroque frescoes by Vito D'Anna and Gaspare Serenario, the 17th century lion fountain by Marabitti, and the grand staircase with the interior walls by Marvuglia.

We loved it, what stands out the most is the people who give the guided tour, either the owner or one of the children. I had never seen anything like that!
