What cities are in the Swiss Alps?
With Lake Lucerne standing as one of the most famous landmarks in the Swiss Alps, Lucerne stands as one of the most impressive cities in the Swiss Alps. There is also the towns of Interlaken (located in the Bernese Oberland region), Montreux (famous for its annual jazz festival) and Zermatt, (which features the highest open-air railway in Europe).
What makes the Swiss Alps famous?
In truth it is the Alps that make Switzerland famous, with the mountain range across Switzerland, Leichtenstein, Austria, Slovenia, Germany and France. The reason they're Swiss is because the mountain range covers 60% of the entire country. The mountain range itself features one of the most diverse climates and landscapes for such a small area, meaning you can see lots in a short space of time.
Which Alps can I see from Zurich?
The village of Grindelwald and Lucerne are both great destinations to get a feel for the landscape, while for actual mountains: Mount Rigi, Mount Pilatus and Mount Titles are all great places to go hiking and take in the Swiss Alps gorgeous scenery.
