Step by Step
Fez is much more than a city: it is a sensory and cultural experience like no other. On this free tour, you will explore the narrow streets of the medina, considered the largest in the world without vehicular traffic, on foot. A local guide will take you through the most fascinating corners of the old town while revealing stories of the civilisations that have left their mark on this imperial city.
During the tour, you will visit landmarks such as the Bab Boujloud Gate, the elegant Al Attarine Madrasa, the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II - the city's founder - and Place Seffarine, the centre of handicraft activity. One of the highlights will undoubtedly be the Chaouwara tanneries, where you will learn about the traditional leather dyeing process.
In addition to its impressive architecture and history, the tour includes valuable gastronomic tips: the guide will share with you which dishes to try and where to eat to make the most of the local cuisine, considered one of the best in the world.
The atmosphere of the tour is relaxed and friendly, making it an excellent opportunity to meet other travellers while discovering this magical city. The tour is usually conducted in more than one language at a time, allowing people from different backgrounds to participate and enjoy the tour.
How does a free tour work?
A free tour is a guided walking tour without a fixed price. At the end of the tour, it is you yourself who will evaluate the quality of the service with your contribution to the guide.
