Although the month of November is low season and is the last month of autumn to welcome winter, there are still interesting things to do during the first two weeks of the month. In the end one of the advantages of going to Capri at this time is that you will basically have the island all to yourself.

But besides showing you some of the best things to see and do in Capri in November, I will tell you about a couple of festivities that you can't miss if you visit the island during this month. Also don't forget to try some fruits and dishes typical of the season.

1. Take a city tour of Capri and Anacapri

Among the things you definitely have to do during the month of November, thanks to the cool weather of the island, is to sign up for one of the best tours of Capri, one of those that take you through the cobblestone streets and allow you to know each of the most important historical sites of the island.

The best thing about this plan is that, still in the month of November, you can find different companies and tour guides that offer you a complete service, in which they not only take you around the island, but also tell you about its history and culture.

Definitely the month of November is a good time to do this kind of tours because you can walk more calmly through the streets, thanks to the fact that there are few tourists in Capri. Another advantage of taking a tour during this month is that you can go and taste some of the flavors of Caprese gastronomy without having to make a reservation or wait a long time.

In addition, an advantage to keep in mind if you travel to the island in November and want to do one of these tours, is that, as well as in the stores, in the tourist area you will also find sales and offers that you can take advantage of. So not only you are going to do a tour with few people but also at a very low price.

2. Enter the Blue Grotto

If you want to sign up for one of the best boat tours from Capri, without a doubt the best option you can choose is to go to the Blue Grotto, which is a perfect tour to do in November, because you can find amazing deals on tours and shore excursions.

But also, as during this month there are less people in the whole island, it will be much more fun and quiet your walk to the Blue Grotto because, given the low influx of people, you will have the opportunity to look at the Grotto in a different way and you can appreciate much more easily the phenomenon that exists inside the cave, something that is not so well appreciated with so many tourists.

The only disadvantage of going on this Blue Grotto tour in November is the sea temperature, which is definitely much lower than at other times of the year, so I recommend you prepare yourself for cold water.

3. Taste some chestnuts at the Sagra della Castagna

Towards the month of October we begin to feel the arrival of autumn, and with it the cold. And also this time of the year there is a festival that is very special in many places in Europe and Capri is no exception, it is nothing less than the Sagra della Castagna. Year after year, the Amici di Cetrella Association is in charge of organizing the Chestnut Festival.

This festival usually takes place between October and November, however, it is during the month of November that it takes on the most momentum with the different activities that take place as part of the celebration. So you will be able to participate in the different activities planned by the organizing committee, such as dances and talks.

You will also be delighted to participate in the mass that is held annually to give thanks for the tradition of the chestnut and for the good harvest, which is officiated in the Church of Santa Maria di Cetrella. You can't miss the sharing of typical products made with chestnuts, including the famous chestnut panettone, a good caprese coffee and more chestnuts.

This is one of the best things to do in Capri with your family, because in addition to receiving the religious blessing and tasting traditional Caprese flavors, you can enjoy concerts and music during all the festivities that take place from the first week of November.

4. Attend the National Unity and Armed Forces Day celebrations

Since 1918 Italy celebrates every November 4, the Day of National Unity and Armed Forces, thanks to the war armistice that ended the First World War and helped begin the period of revival of the Italian republic.

Capri does not escape from these solemn acts that are made throughout the territory of Italy. Among the activities that you can enjoy during this day are the many commemorative and allusive events of the day. This commemoration is always celebrated with a speech by the first authority of the island and a floral offering.

You can enjoy this day by going to the different restaurants and places of cultural and tourist interest in the city, where the locals will most likely tell you a bit of the history of this day, while you try some of the most traditional flavors of the region.

5. Have a romantic date at the Punta Carena Lighthouse during the fall

Although autumn starts at the end of September, there is no doubt that having a romantic date is a better plan for November than including it among the best things to see and do in Capri in September, basically because during the month of November you are going to be able to better enjoy the much cooler weather.

The influx of tourists that drops considerably during the month of November, will allow you to have a much more private and crowd-free date, as it is not possible to have it during the rest of the seasons of the year, especially during high season.

The ideal place to have a romantic date in November on this island is undoubtedly the Punta Carena Lighthouse, which thanks to its location away from the most common tourist places, becomes a magical place to share as a couple. I recommend you wait until the evening to go to the balcony of the lighthouse, from where you can appreciate a beautiful and romantic sunset, which is even more intense during the days of the month of November.

You can complete the plan by going to one of the nearby restaurants, but always keeping in mind that to enjoy them in November, you should make a reservation to ensure your place and that the restaurant is open. This way you will have a very romantic evening under the autumn light with that special someone.

6. Climb Monte Solaro

One of the things you can't miss if you visit Capri is to climb Monte Solaro, which you can also access thanks to a chairlift. Although this is an experience that you can live all year round, certainly in the month of November the weather allows you to enjoy much more of the incredible views of Capri in the middle of autumn.

From Monte Solaro you will not only be able to see the most beautiful landscapes of the entire town of Capri and Anacapri, but you will also have the opportunity to look at some of the best beaches of Capri, whose landscape is possible to see more accurately from the heights.

Undoubtedly this ride to the heights will give you the opportunity to take beautiful pictures to remember. Once you are at the top, you will be able to see a beautiful complex of terraces, as well as a solarium and an American bar, where you can have a drink before continuing your hike up the hill.

Among the places you can visit at the top are the remains of the Brutto Fortress, dating back to the Napoleonic era, which was built for military reasons. You can also visit the Castle of Barbarossa, which is another architectural gem worthy of a visit, and if it is in November, all the better to avoid crowds.

7. Go and visit the Cetrella Hermitage

At the end of your walk on Monte Solaro, you will find the cherry on the cake, which is no other structure than the famous Cetrella Hermitage, an ideal place to visit in November thanks to the island's climate and because during the penultimate month of the year you can find a much lower tourist influx than in the rest of the year.

It is a small sanctuary that rises more than 470 meters high. In the complex you can appreciate a small church that was built in honor of Santa Maria, a large bell tower and a dome dating from 1600.

As well as the rest of the sites of interest that you can see in Monte Solaro, I recommend you to visit this place especially in November because during this season there are fewer visitors on the island, so you will have all the space for you and a few other people.

By having a visit with so few people, you will have the opportunity to look at everything in detail, without the pressure that other people are also waiting to see the monument. In addition, from its viewpoints you can see beautiful panoramic views of the island and the ocean, as you might not be able to do at any other time of the year.

8. Take advantage of the offers in the stores

When the low season arrives, which is usually between October and November, many restaurants and hotels close, and some stores close as well. Evidently during this season the influx of tourists decreases a lot, so workers take the opportunity to go on vacation.

This causes prices in stores to drop and the long-awaited bargains arrive. It is no secret that the stores in Capri sell quality products and handicrafts with an Italian seal of quality. That's why one of the best things to do is to go shopping in downtown Capri when November arrives.

The best thing about shopping in Capri is that you can find different world-renowned brands, which also join the autumn sales season on the island, which offers its biggest discounts during the month of November.

Among the stores I recommend you visit are: Carthusia, Capri Pride, Eco Capri, Amedeo Canfora and Campanella di Capri. In each of them you can find amazing handmade products that you could only buy in Capri.

9. Sign up for trekking around the island

Considering that for the month of November is the end of autumn and the beginning of winter, it is a good time to do activities on land, instead of doing activities at sea. One of the best things you can do, without a doubt, is to go trekking around the island, and a good place to do it is by going to Monte Solaro.

Although you have the option of taking a chairlift to go up, a good way to enjoy the nature, the scenery and the cool climate is definitely to go up on foot. Trekking excursions are quite popular on the island, and especially during the month of November they become the best option to enjoy the scenery that Capri has to offer.

But Monte Solaro is not the only place where you can go trekking, there are many other places on the island for hiking. For example, you can sign up for an experience that takes you through the Faraglioni di Pizzolungo, the Belvedere Viewpoint and the Port, as well as you have the option to go along the Faraglioni Route, which is one of the most famous and most traveled.

And like these, there are many other options that you can find to start your hiking adventure through the most incredible places of the island of Capri, to see from land, the places that by sea, you could not see.

10. Take amazing pictures taking advantage of the autumn light

One of the best things you can do if you visit the island during the month of November is to take advantage of the beautiful and faint autumn light that invades Capri to take some of the most beautiful pictures of your trip.

The Piazzetta is the ideal place to take the best pictures of the whole island, and especially during the autumn season that ends around November, the landscapes can be captured better, thanks to the softness of the light that is maintained throughout the month, very different from the intense light that prevails in the summer months.

I recommend taking pictures of the Faraglioni, which is one of the most beautiful and iconic sights of the island. During the month of November it is also a good idea to take pictures of the most picturesque villages of Capri and Anacapri.

In November the day length decreases in Capri, you are in the middle of autumn and winter is approaching more and more. In total, Caprians notice a decrease of about an hour in the duration of sunlight each day.

Towards the last days of the month there is the shortest day that has little more than 9 hours of natural light. As for the weather on the island during this month, you should know that the temperature is considerably cooler than in other seasons of the year, ranging between 14 ºC and 19 ºC.

If you travel to Capri during this month, you have to include in your suitcase enough rain gear, because this is the month with the highest amount of rain in the whole year. The weather is always unpredictable and you should definitely opt for land-based plans, rather than going on sea excursions, with a few exceptions.

Although December is the windiest month, in November you will also notice how windy the atmosphere is, so, among the things you will have to bring on this trip you have to include a sweater to cover yourself from the blizzards that hit hard.

The tourist flow in Capri in November

In November the tourist influx drops considerably on the island of Capri. It is noticeable that it is a low season, especially because many restaurants and hotels close their doors for vacations. Also the sea and the coastline look much cleaner because boats and launches are not seen docked in the harbor.

Generally those who visit the island during this season, are those who are looking for warmth during the winter, because although it is not a hot island during the winter, it does have much higher temperatures than the temperatures in countries and cities further north.

This means that it is a good plan to go in November if you want to take advantage of discovering every corner of Capri without crowds and taking advantage of the available places both in restaurants and in hotels and places of accommodation.

You may already know that in November the offers come to the island of Capri, and you can see this not only in the stores that lower the prices of their products, but also in different places of accommodation, those that are still open, restaurants also lower their prices in the low season, especially during the month of November.

If you want to do any tour or any excursion from Capri to the Amalfi Coast region, this is a good month to plan this activity, thanks to the fact that tour prices also drop considerably.

Even going to visit the Blue Grotto, which is one of the most special and mandatory things to do in Capri, is cheaper to do during the month of November than in any other month of the year.
