Step by Step

Enjoy a complete experience with this half-day excursion to the Gap of Dunloe from Killarney. Set off from the charming town of Killarney in groups of 30 people aboard an air-conditioned coach and head to Kate Kearney’s Cottage. Make the most of it and take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the Gap of Dunloe, or if you prefer, opt for walks and hiking trails. Then board a traditional boat to enjoy the magnificent views of the Killarney Lakes, and round off the day with a visit at your own pace to Ross Castle.

Join this excursion covering over 10 km and let yourself be swept away through this beautiful, narrow mountain pass, featuring lakes, waterfalls and steep cliffs. Your adventure will begin at Kate Kearney’s Cottage, a picturesque inn that has been a starting point for many explorers for generations. From here, you’ll be immersed in a world of fairytale landscapes and venture into the heart of the Gap.

Experience the magic of this stunning gorge with a 10 km horse-drawn carriage ride and , for an additional fee, take in the spectacular scenery. A slightly more active alternative is to walk and explore the hiking trails through the famous Gap.

You’ll see a succession of natural wonders, such as stunning cliffs all around you and majestic mountains. Enjoy the fresh, pure air that surrounds you, walk through the Gap to Lord Brandon’s Cottage – which is surrounded by lush, green meadows – and take a break in its café before your boat trip.

After lunch, you’ll board a traditional open-top boat and sail across Killarney’s three famous lakes: Lough Leane, Muckross Lake and Upper Lake. Admire their crystal-clear waters and wooded landscapes, and from your seat, let yourself be transported to a world full of ancient ruins.

Finally, you’ll arrive at your final destination, Ross Castle, a medieval fortress built in the 15th century, which you can explore at your leisure. Stroll through its grounds, admire its ramparts and the beautiful views of Lough Leane, and round off the day with the short journey back to Killarney town.

We were only 3 families on the tour, so it was perfect to meet as a group and make friends from different countries.

A walk full of nature, not only because of the green areas, but also because of the beautiful horses and sheep that we could see as well.
