Hamburg Dungeon is one of the best tourist attractions if you feel like being scared and learning history in an alternative way. It's an interactive experience and with actors like this one you'll go through terrifying places like a torture chamber, which simulates the interrogation of those who defied the Napoleonic invasion.

You will also have to go through the Labyrinth of the Lost, an overwhelming mirror maze, and immerse yourself in the story of Klaus Störtebeker, one of the most infamous German pirates. You'll also see the aftermath of the flood of 1717 on a small water trail, which left one of the worst Christmases in Teutonic memory.

Hamburg's dark history is extensive, including the passage of Nazi Germany and the Holy Roman Empire. Having the company of a guide is key to understanding the consequences of these historical events as you relive the horror of those times.
