Thoiry ZooSafari offers a unique experience combining a traditional zoo with a drive-through safari. By purchasing a ticket, you’ll be able to enter and admire numerous species up close. You can do so from your car or on foot, as some areas allow you to get close without needing a car.

As well as the more traditional species – which are no less beautiful for being so – this park is home to the following animals:

• Southern white rhinoceros – An endangered species and one of the world’s largest land mammals. Despite its name, it is light grey or brown in colour. The term ‘white’ comes from a corruption of the Afrikaans word ‘wyd’, meaning ‘wide’ or ‘vast’.
• Bongo – A medium to large-sized antelope, shy in nature and highly agile. The bongo is one of the few antelopes that inhabit tropical forests.
• White-faced Saki - It lives in the northern regions of the Amazon and is characterised by a thick, dark coat with white patches on the muzzle and chest.
• Madagascar day gecko – Found only on the African island, where it lives in lush tropical rainforests. It is notable for its vivid colouring. Its body can range from bright green to blue, with spots or stripes of varying shades depending on the subspecies.
• Cassowary – A large flightless bird that lives in the tropical rainforests of Australia and New Zealand. It has a large crest on its head, formed by fleshy skin protrusions. Depending on the species, this crest can be red, blue or purple.

Thoiry ZooSafari is also ideal for insect lovers. Here you can see the giant Malaysian stick insect, the leaf-cutter ants (which spend their time cutting leaves) and the Caribena versicolor, a spider found mainly in Guadeloupe and Martinique.
