These tunnels under the city of Paris were, during Roman times, limestone mines, hence their labyrinthine route. However, it became a cemetery in the 18th century. Since then, it has remained an ossuary housing the skeletons and skulls of more than 6 million Parisians.
Specifically, this visit will give you access to restricted areas of the Catacombs, which are only accessible if you are accompanied by a guide.
