Step by Step
The Musée des Confluences in Lyon is dedicated to the union of knowledge and its mission is the dissemination of scientific knowledge. With these priority-access tickets, you won't have to worry about queuing and you can enjoy the permanent collection divided into 4 thematic sections: Origins, Society, Species and Eternity, and the museum's temporary exhibitions.
Inside you will find multilingual maps and a booklet for children (from 7 years old). There is also a souvenir shop, Wi-Fi connection, restaurants and free lockers.
The tour is conceived as an incredible journey through the history of the world. The attractions are varied and perfectly presented: the Choulans mammoth (discovered in the mountains near Lyon), prehistoric artefacts, a replica of Sputnik, Egyptian animal mummies, shells more than 500,000 years old, minerals, insects and much more.
The structure that houses it leaves no one indifferent. The Austrian architectural firm Coop Himmelb(l)au has designed a roof with a nod to the animal world. Its construction was part of a redevelopment process that changed the face of an entire neighbourhood.
The Musée des Confluences is located at the southern end of the Presqu'île, a long peninsula between the Rhône and the Saône, and is surrounded by a garden. It is easily accessible by metro, tram, bus and boat (from the Quai des Célestins, depending on the season). If you have a car, you can leave it in the museum's secure car park (Rue Vuillerme).
