Experience Highlights

Stroll through tropical gardens, past waterfalls and lakes with tickets to Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird World, a vast natural space set in the hills of the Sunshine Coast and offering views of the Glass House Mountains.

You can choose between visiting the gardens and the Farm Friends area or rounding off the experience with Bird World, where you’ll explore several walk-through aviaries inhabited by hundreds of native and exotic birds. With this latter option, access to the aviaries is exclusively via an interactive guided tour lasting around 50 minutes.

With its footpaths, terraced gardens and encounters with animals, this is a visit designed to be enjoyed at a leisurely pace, allowing you to spend a good part of the day exploring the grounds.

  • Explore nearly 18 acres of gardens amongst lakes, waterfalls and viewing points
  • Get up close to hundreds of birds in Bird World’s walk-through aviaries
  • Round off the day with a visit to Farm Friends and its animals

What’s included

  • Entrance to Maleny Botanic Gardens
  • Access to Bird World and a tour of the aviaries (if you choose this option)

Select date and time

Step by Step

Maleny Botanic Gardens stretch across a site surrounded by tropical rainforest, with the silhouettes of the Glass House Mountains as a backdrop. Its gardens are laid out on different levels and linked by paths that wind past ponds, small waterfalls and areas teeming with vegetation.

As well as strolling amongst tropical flowers and plants, you can visit Farm Friends, an area designed to introduce you to various farm animals and add an even more family-friendly touch to your visit.

If you choose the ticket that includes Bird World, you’ll gain access to several aviaries through which you can walk whilst the birds fly around you. These are home to over 600 native and exotic birds, with species from different parts of the world.

The tour of Bird World lasts approximately 50 minutes and takes place in a group. During the tour, you’ll be able to observe the birds up close, learn about their behaviour and discover the distinctive characteristics of the different species that inhabit the aviaries.

You can organise the rest of the day at your own pace, either before or after your visit to Bird World. If your ticket includes only the gardens and Farm Friends, you’ll have access throughout opening hours without needing to stick to a specific entry time.

Over 600 birds sounds like a lot, and when you’re inside the aviaries, you really notice the variety.

The bird-watching tour is at a specific time and we had to wait a while. We made the most of the gardens in the meantime.

With the Glass House Mountains in the background, some of the views are spectacular.
