Step by Step

With this ticket to the Tahune Airwalk, you’ll be able to discover the Tasmanian forest from a completely different perspective. The main attraction is an elevated walkway stretching over 600 metres, which winds its way through the treetops and reaches points some 50 metres above the Huon River, offering spectacular views of the forest and the river landscape.

The experience continues with the Huon Pine Walk, a more leisurely stroll that follows the riverbank amidst vegetation and specimens of the famous Huon pines. The route features accessible walkways and is a good option for those who prefer to enjoy the forest at a relaxed pace.

If you’re looking for a bit more excitement, head along the Swinging Bridges Track. This trail takes you across two suspension bridges spanning the waters of the Huon and Picton rivers. The bridge over the Huon is over 100 metres long, whilst the one over the Picton is 62 metres long, creating one of the most spectacular moments of the visit.

The entire route winds through unspoilt natural surroundings, making it an excellent day out for those wishing to escape Hobart for a few hours and discover the wild landscapes of the Huon Valley. You can round off the experience with a stop at the visitor centre and café before heading back.

A lovely day trip from Hobart. I particularly enjoyed the views of the Huon River from the footbridge – very peaceful and unique.

I was a bit scared looking down from the top, but that was part of the fun. Pure nature.

The place is lovely, although getting there without a car doesn’t seem easy. Once there, everything was comfortable and very nice.
