Step by Step

Barcelona's artistic soul shines brightest in its Modernist treasures, and Casa Vicens stands as Antoni Gaudí's first major architectural triumph. Blending Neo-Mudéjar, Orientalist, and Islamic influences, this extraordinary building has earned UNESCO World Heritage status and recognition as a Cultural Asset and Historic-Artistic Monument.

Your visit includes a smart audio guide that brings the house to life with fascinating insights into Gaudí's story and the countless architectural and artistic elements woven throughout the space.

Built between 1883 and 1888, this four-story house with a garden was commissioned by Mr. Manuel Vicens as a summer residence in the village of Gràcia. Created during Gaudí's Orientalist phase, the house showcases Neo-Mudéjar, Islamic, and Nasrid elements alongside the signature Modernist style that defined the architect's vision.

Casa Vicens's façade captures attention immediately—not just through its floral decorative motifs, but with striking white and green ceramic tiles that draw visitors from blocks away. Nature plays a starring role throughout: fan palm leaves grace the entrance gates, while marigolds bloom across the façade's tilework.

Today, Casa Vicens operates as a house-museum, renovated and expanded by architect Joan B. Serra with Gaudí's own approval.

Want to enhance your experience? Choose from two special add-ons. Treat yourself to a delicious salted-caramel roll to enjoy during your visit, or opt for a professional photo session to capture lasting memories of your time at this iconic museum.
