Step by Step

After validating your ticket, your guide leads you to the main square, where the imposing Pyramid of Kukulkan stands. Here you will learn how, at the equinoxes, light creates the effect of the feathered serpent descending the north staircase.

You continue to the Ball Court, the largest in Mesoamerica, whose walls reveal reliefs of players and references to cosmic cycles. The guide describes the perfect acoustics that allowed the sounds of the game to be amplified and the ceremonial connotations of the game.

The route continues through the Temple of the Warriors and the Thousand Columns Group, a stony forest where markets and military rites were held. At every turn, the narration is filled with facts about the construction techniques - limestone, natural mortar and astronomical precision - that still amaze modern engineers.

The tour concludes at the Sacred Cenote, a mirror of greenish water where the Mayans made offerings to Chaac, the god of rain. Your guide recounts the archaeological expeditions that recovered gold, jade and human remains, confirming the religious importance of the site.

At the end of the tour, you have free time to return to your favourite spots, shop for handicrafts or sample Yucatecan delicacies at the outdoor market before heading back home.
