Step by Step
Take a journey back in time on a day trip that will transport you to medieval France with these tickets for the Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie in Paris. These two visits will immerse you in the Palais de la Cité, which was the residence of the Kings of France until the 14th century.
Commissioned by Louis IX, the Sainte-Chapelle will welcome you with its impressive 15-metre-high stained-glass windows and open its doors to one of the most extensive collections of stained glass in the world today. No fewer than 15 stained-glass windows depict 1,113 scenes from the Old and New Testaments.
This Gothic chapel is one of the monuments listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On sunny days, the light streaming through its stained-glass windows will captivate your gaze.
The Conciergerie, abandoned by the kings of France in the 14th century, was converted into a prison and a revolutionary court. You’ll walk through the Salle des Gardes (Guards’ Hall) and the Salle des Gens d’armes (Soldiers’ Hall), and get a sense of what life was like for the prisoners of that era.
To ensure a more immersive experience, you’ll be given a Histopad upon arrival at the Conciergerie. This augmented reality tool will allow you to delve deeper into the history of this iconic site, the main place of detention during the French Revolution.
You’ll have the chance to visit two of the city’s most historic tourist attractions in comfort. Both tickets include priority access, although you will still need to go through the compulsory security check.
You can visit the Conciergerie on the same day, either before or after, but it is advisable to start your visit at the Conciergerie, as it closes earlier.
Reviews
- AA.It is worth visiting this place and the combined ticket is very good value for money.
- RR.They are probably not the most famous places for tourists, and yet! Here we are offered a date with history
- MM.The visit to the Cornsiergerie is very interesting and well organized.
- CC.The Saint Chapelle impresses with its beautiful mosaic stained glass windows. At first I was a bit disappointed because on the first floor there are only souvenir stalls, but on the second floor it is even more impressive with the beautiful mosaic windows.
