Choose a less high-profile opponent

When checking tickets for a New York Rangers match, you should look not only at the date the match is played, but also at the team they’re playing against. If you choose one of their big rivals, prices may be higher and, in fact, the cheapest seats sell out quickly due to the interest generated among the thousands of American fans drawn to the sport.

However, if, as well as booking your tickets well in advance – and if your stay in New York allows it – you try to choose a less high-profile opponent, ticket prices will be lower and you’ll have a better chance of finding cheap tickets.

The best seats at Madison Square Garden

As is the case in large stadiums for mass-participation sports, some seats offer better views than others. If you fancy the experience of watching the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden for the spectacle they put on, but without needing to follow the puck across the ice all the time, I’d recommend choosing a seat in the 200 section – specifically sections 208, 210, 222 or 225. These are the blocks offering the best value for money.

There are also other sections, such as those numbered 413 to 420, where the view is not as good but the prices are much more affordable, although it will be harder to follow the game.

Firstly, bear in mind that New York Rangers matches are almost always sold out. To secure your seat, it’s highly advisable to book your tickets well in advance.

As a general rule, tickets for the New York team have an average price of $145, which is roughly equivalent to €133. Prices rise significantly during the play-offs. If the New York Rangers qualify, the cheapest ticket can easily reach $350 (around €321).
