Step by Step

In this activity you will have the opportunity to visit the Salt Cathedral in the town of Zipaquirá. The tour will last approximately 7 hours, and will be conducted in small groups to ensure that you can enjoy the most personalised experience possible.

You will be able to enter the Salt Cathedral without queuing or waiting, and walk through the underground tunnels carved into the stone that gives its name to the site. In them, you will contemplate a multitude of biblical scenes through the statues, altars and reliefs that are carved into the rock.

During the tour, you can also learn, thanks to an audio guide, details about the extraction of salt and the life of the miners who worked in the mine on which the cathedral stands today. Outside the building you can also admire the statues of the Salt Park, which stand in the open air amidst the natural beauty of the Zipaquirá region.

During the visit, you will also have free time to explore the town, stroll through its cobbled streets and discover its rich history and colonial architecture. You can also enjoy a delicious local meal in one of Zipaquirá's traditional restaurants or go sightseeing in the various places of interest the city has to offer.

At the end of the tour, you will be driven back to Bogota, as both the transfer to and from the city is included in the activity.

The tour was too short to cover so much beauty and history. I recommend extending it and you will enjoy it much more!
