How much do tickets to the Statue of Liberty cost?
The Statue of Liberty is an icon in the United States and one of New York's most popular tourist attractions. Individual tickets to visit it start at €20 (in this case, you will have to pay for the ferry yourself). Here are some options for tours and cruises to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island that do not include admission to the statue itself but are still very interesting:
- Express Cruise to the Statue of Liberty, from £20: For those looking for an express visit, this option allows you to go and return in 45 minutes while listening to explanations from a tour guide.
- Tour to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, from £60: On this tour, you will have the opportunity to explore Liberty Island and Ellis Island with explanations from an audio guide, and you will also have access to the Statue of Liberty Museum.
- Circle Line night cruise around Manhattan to the Statue of Liberty, from £41: This is a very interesting option because you will sail on the Hudson River at sunset and see the illuminated skyline while enjoying live commentary from an expert guide.
- Tour of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and 9/11 Memorial, from £62: This tour includes a ferry trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, a walking tour of the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero and a visit to the 9/11 Museum with a tour guide.
- Early morning tour of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, from £38: If you like to get up early, this is the option for you, as you will take the ferry, visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, as well as the Immigration Museum, accompanied by a professional guide first thing in the morning.
- Private tour of Ellis Island with tickets to the Statue of Liberty, from £105: On this tour, accompanied by a professional guide, you will visit Liberty Island and Ellis Island on a private tour. You will also have access to the Museum of Liberty (Liberty Island) and the Immigration Museum (Ellis Island).
Regarding admission to the Statue, depending on factors such as the areas of the Statue of Liberty you wish to visit (you can choose between admission to the Statue's Pedestal or admission to the Crown and Pedestal) or whether you would like to go there on your own or with a guided tour, the price may vary:
Tickets that include a visit to the Statue's Pedestal and the Statue's Crown have different prices (from around €20 for the Pedestal and from around €23 for the Crown). However, it is well worth the expense because you will have the opportunity to see the monument from the inside, something unique that not many people are lucky enough to experience, as few tickets are available and demand is very high. If you manage to get them, it will be one of the coolest memories of your trip!
Visit the Statue of Liberty with a guided tour
For example, at Hellotickets you can join one of the guided tours to the Statue of Liberty from €60, which includes the services of a guide, the ferry to Liberty Island, the trip to Ellis Island and tickets to the Immigration Museum and the Liberty Museum.
Taking a guided tour of the Statue of Liberty is something I recommend considering if this monument is one of the must-sees on your trip to New York, as you will get more out of the experience. With the help of a tour guide, you will learn about the history and the best anecdotes in detail, and you will enjoy both the fun and educational sides of this excursion in equal measure. Going with an audio guide that just recites facts can be boring, but the guides know how to make the experience intimate, enjoyable and unforgettable.
What's more, by taking a guided tour of the Statue of Liberty, you won't have to worry about organising the visit, transport or queuing at the ticket office. As it's all planned in advance, it's very convenient and you can spend your time doing other more enjoyable things.

Price of tickets to the Statue of Liberty at the ticket office
If you're not a fan of guided tours and prefer to do your own thing when sightseeing, you'll still need to buy tickets to visit the Statue of Liberty, either at the ticket offices in Battery Park or Liberty State Park or online from €34.
Breakdown of general admission ticket prices at the ticket office
- Adults from €34.
- Seniors (over 62) from €16.
- Children (4-12 years old) from £23.
- Children under 4: Free
The Statue of Liberty is one of New York's most visited monuments and tickets are limited (especially for the Pedestal and Crown), so they sell out quickly.
My advice is to buy them well in advance and do so online, as the ticket offices tend to be crowded with people queuing.
If you're not prepared to get up early and queue at the ticket office first thing in the morning to try to get tickets for the same day, it's not worth standing there for so long as you'll most likely leave empty-handed. It's more practical to do it from your computer in the comfort of your own home.
Is there free admission to the Statue of Liberty? Are there reduced rates to save money on the visit?
Only children under the age of 4 can visit the Statue of Liberty for free. All other visitors must purchase tickets for the Statue of Liberty, although there are reduced rates for certain age groups, such as adults over 62 (from €16) or children aged 4 to 12 (from €23) for "General Admission" tickets.
With the reduced rates available for visiting the Statue of Liberty, you'll be able to save a little on your budget and spend that money on other activities or visits in New York with your family during your stay. Something that always comes in handy!
Can I enter the Statue of Liberty with the New York Pass or other city tourist cards?
It is possible to see the Statue of Liberty for free from a distance from the ferry to Staten Island, but if you want to disembark on Liberty Island to see it up close, you need to purchase a ticket or have one of the New York tourist cards that include this attraction.
Most tourist passes include General Admission to the Statue of Liberty, which is the basic ticket that only gives you access to the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and the Immigration Museum. Unfortunately, however, New York tourist cards do not allow you to visit the Crown or the Pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.
If you want to see the monument from the inside, you will have to book a full ticket separately with Statue Cruises, as you cannot use the tourist pass to see the Statue of Liberty and pay a supplement to access the Pedestal or Crown at the ticket offices in Battery Park or Liberty State Park.
How do I use the tourist card to see the Statue of Liberty?
It's very easy! You don't need to book a time slot to visit the Statue of Liberty using one of these city tourist passes, but you will need to go to the Castle Clinton ticket office in Battery Park (there is a specific fast queue for presenting it) and exchange it for a ticket to board the ferry and take the tour. This step is essential, as if you skip it and don't exchange your tourist card, you will not be allowed to board the ferry.
