In Florida’s most famous city, professional basketball arrived in the 1988–89 season with the creation of the Miami Heat, part of the NBA’s 1987 expansion. Although their history is relatively recent, they quickly established themselves as a powerhouse:

  • Their first championship came in 2006, thanks to the leadership of Shaquille O’Neal and Dwyane Wade, with Wade being named Finals MVP.
  • They went on to win two further titles in 2012 and 2013, with the iconic ‘Big Three’ of LeBron James, Wade and Chris Bosh.

Now, watching the Miami Heat live is a unique experience. The team plays at the modern Kaseya Centre, located right in the heart of Miami, overlooking the bay — just a stone’s throw from the ocean — and no longer uses the name ‘FTX Arena’.

Top matches of the 2026–27 season – Miami Heat

The Miami Heat return to the Kaseya Centre with the ambition of once again becoming one of the Eastern Conference’s top contenders following a 2025–26 season that ended in the play-in, but which has given way to a seismic off-season with the arrival of Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Florida-based team also retains Bam Adebayo as another of its key pillars and heads into the new season with a significantly revamped squad, featuring players such as Andrew Wiggins, Simone Fontecchio and promising young talents like Vladislav Goldin.

The United States isn’t a cheap country, and to watch a live sporting event you’ll have to be prepared to dig deep into your pockets. However, prices aren’t as high as you might think. A seat in a good position (with a clear view of the court) usually costs around €90.

How to save money on NBA tickets in Miami

A holiday in the United States isn’t cheap, so it’s worth knowing a few tips for saving on Miami Heat tickets:

  • Seats in the corners are slightly cheaper than those in the centre
  • Prices are very affordable in the area furthest from the court, which is at the top of the arena (from sections 401 to 420)
  • If the opposition aren’t among the NBA’s elite, you can find deals for around €30 per ticket (sometimes even less!)
  • The NBA pre-season is much cheaper than the regular season. Usually, the big-name players stay on the bench, and this is reflected in ticket prices. What’s more, it can be a chance to see the young talents who are set to take the league by storm in the future

Otherwise, the same advice applies as for other teams: choose midweek matches and buy your tickets well in advance.

What are the best seats at the Kaseya Centre?

The most loyal fans are in no doubt: the best seats are in sections 106/107 and 118/119. To be more specific, in sections 106 and 118, the higher seats are more desirable, whilst in sections 107 and 119, the lower ones guarantee a better view.

The Dewars Club deserves a special mention. Specifically, it’s located on the second tier, between the lower and upper levels. The first 10 rows in sections 101 to 124 guarantee access to this area of the arena. If you can, book a seat near the front railing – you’ll have the best view of the court.

Can I visit the Kaseya Centre if I’m not going to a match?

I’m afraid not. The Kaseya Centre does not organise guided tours. When there are no events taking place, the arena staff carry out maintenance work on the facilities. If you’re a basketball fan, you can treat yourself by visiting or taking part in the following attractions and activities:

  • The Miami Heat Store, the team’s official shop. Ideal if you want to buy T-shirts, caps, sweatshirts and much more. It’s located on ground floor of the stadium (601 Biscayne Boulevard)
  • Grails, in case you can’t get tickets for the FXT Arena. This bar/restaurant shows all NBA matches and is known for its great atmosphere. It’s also famous for the Sneaker Cocktail, a drink served directly from a shoe. Incredible, isn’t it? (2800 N Miami Avenue)
  • Play basketball with the locals. There are a few courts around the city where you can play this exciting sport. The best ones are at Margaret Pace Park, Coconut Grove (2845 Brickell Avenue) and Palm Island Park (159 Palm Avenue, Miami Beach)

When to go and watch a Miami Heat match in the 2026–2027 season

The 2026–2027 NBA season follows the usual format: it only takes a break during the summer, and matches are played even on public holidays such as Christmas or New Year’s Day. This means that if you visit Miami during the winter, you’ll have a great chance of seeing the Heat in action at the Kaseya Centre.

Here is the general schedule for the season:

  • Pre-season – between late September and early October 2026. Friendly matches designed to fine-tune the team and give playing time to young talents.
  • Regular Season – 82 matches (41 home and 41 away), from early October 2026 to mid- or late April 2027.
  • All-Star Game – the NBA’s most festive weekend, featuring the three-point and slam dunk contests, and the match between the stars of the Eastern and Western Conferences.
  • Play-offs – the top eight teams from each conference battle it out for a place in the final, from mid-April to early June.
  • Finals – played as a best-of-seven series; the team that wins four games takes the championship ring.

Rivalries

Some matches in the 2026–2027 season will have a special flavour due to the intensity of their historic rivalries:

  • Orlando Magic – The ‘Sunshine State rivalry’ pits two cities against each other, separated by just 230 miles. On these nights, the Kaseya Centre buzzes like never before.
  • Indiana Pacers – A highly charged clash due to the media disparity between the two franchises.
  • Boston Celtics – A more recent rivalry, fuelled by star players and high-calibre matches.
  • New York Knicks – Very evenly matched encounters that are usually decided by just a few points.
  • Dallas Mavericks – An intense rivalry, marked by inflammatory comments from their owner.

How long does an NBA match last?

Half-time| ©vishpool
Half-time| ©vishpool

NBA matches are played over four quarters, with a 15-minute break between the second and third quarters. Unlike European leagues, each quarter lasts 12 minutes (rather than 10). For this reason, actual playing time is 48 minutes, but when you factor in foul breaks and time-outs, the match can easily run to over an hour and a half.

Are there any matches over the Christmas period? (2026–2027 season)

Yes, the NBA is still in the thick of its regular season throughout December, and the Miami Heat’s fixture list for the 2026–2027 season includes several matches over the Christmas period. This means that if you’re visiting Miami during those weeks, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to watch a live match at the Kaseya Centre. What’s more, this is a time of year when there are usually more tickets available, so you’ll have a better chance of finding good seats.

Match day

When the time comes, don’t be caught off guard! Here are some useful tips to help you organise your day.

Where to eat

If you don’t want to waste time, I’d recommend heading to the stadium’s restaurants. If you fancy some fast food, you can grab a hot dog at Downtown/Uptown Dog (sections 112 and 407) or a chicken burger at Chicken Ciao (sections 108 and 309). Fancy some Mexican food? Then head to Bodega (sections 108, 124 and 303).

If you don’t want to wait until you’re inside the Kaseya Centre, you can have lunch or dinner at the following places:

  • Esotico Miami, a little slice of Hawaii in Florida. In fact, its cuisine is more eclectic, blending Hawaiian classics with specialities from Asia and Latin America (1600 NE 1st Avenue #102)
  • Eleventh Street Pizza, New York-style pizza just a stone’s throw from the Kaseya Centre. At the restaurant, you also have the option of trying a slice (or more) instead of a whole pizza (1035 N Miami Avenue)
  • Black Market, a restaurant with an incredibly varied menu. Here you can try a crispy chicken sandwich, pulled pork, nachos, mac and cheese and much more (401 Biscayne Blvd Unit 225-N)
  • Jaguar Sun, an elegant restaurant famous for both its oysters and its pasta dishes. It also has a good cocktail menu. In my opinion, it’s a great place to head to after the match
  • Lost Boy, known for its happy hours and drinks (157 E Flagler Street)

Where to park

Have you booked a hire car? Are you staying outside Miami and can’t use public transport? In that case, you can leave your car at the following car parks:

  • Bayside Marketplace. During certain special events, it also offers a valet parking service. You can find more information on the official website (401 Biscayne Boulevard)
  • Ultra Park LLC, the car park closest to the Kaseya Centre. Once you’ve parked, it’s less than a five-minute walk (700 Biscayne Boulevard)

When should you head to the stadium?

To avoid queues and make the most of the match, it’s advisable to arrive well in advance. If you have a bit of time to spare, you can take a short stroll to Spanish Navy Plaza, a public square in the centre of Miami, or the Giant Head Statue, a large sculpture depicting a face.

Wi-Fi connection

The Kaseya Centre is South Florida’s premier sports venue. As such, it naturally offers a good, secure Wi-Fi connection. This allows fans to rewatch key moments and check live statistics. Simply select the network from those available and log in.

How to get to the Kaseya Centre

Monorail, Miami| ©Stanley Wood

The Miami Heat’s home ground is just a stone’s throw from the marina and the Freedom Tower. To get there , you can opt for a free option: the monorail. In the Florida metropolis, this mode of transport is known as the Metromover. The line that comes closest to the stadium is the Inner Loop. From the city centre (downtown), simply get off at the Freedom Tower stop.

Alternatively, you can choose two other Metromover lines: the Brickell Loop and the Inner Loop. In both cases, simply get off at the College North stop and walk for less than 10 minutes.
