Experience Highlights

Discover the Acropolis of Athens and the Parthenon on a guided tour lasting approximately 2 hours, which takes in both the major monuments on the summit and some of the historic sites on the southern slope.

During the tour, you’ll visit sites such as the Theatre of Dionysus, the Sanctuary of Asclepius and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus before continuing on to the site’s major landmarks: the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon, the Erechtheion and the Caryatids.

You can choose between two options: a guided tour with Acropolis tickets included, or a guided tour without tickets, in which case you’ll need to purchase your own entry to the archaeological site for the same time slot.

  • Explore the Acropolis and the Parthenon with a guide

  • Choose between a tour with tickets included or without tickets

Step by Step

The Acropolis is much more than just the Parthenon. This tour helps you understand how this great sacred complex functioned and what role its theatres, sanctuaries and temples played in the life of ancient Athens.

The tour begins on the southern slope, where the Theatre of Dionysus is located, one of the most important stages of the ancient world. Nearby, you’ll also discover the sanctuary of Asclepius and its connection to the cult of healing.

The tour continues past the Odeon of Herodes Atticus before beginning the climb up to the monumental part of the Acropolis. As you make your way up, the guide will weave together history, architecture and mythology to provide context for each site.

Once at the top, you’ll reach the Temple of Athena Nike, the Parthenon and the Erechtheion, famous for its portico of the Caryatids. You’ll also see the Propylaea, the monumental entrance to the ancient sacred precinct.

The main difference between the two options lies in access: if you choose the option with tickets, admission to the Acropolis is included; if you choose the option without tickets, you’ll need to purchase them yourself and arrange them to coincide with the tour time.

A very comprehensive way to explore the Acropolis without simply going up, taking photos of the Parthenon and coming back down.

A good pace and plenty of content for two hours. We finished feeling tired, but not overwhelmed.
