Step by Step

Cousino Macul was founded in 1856 and is still owned and run by the direct descendant's of Matias Cousino, the original founder. The cellars were built in the French style using 'cal y canto' - a mixture of egg white and lime as 'cement'. You will take a tour of the winery before sampling its produce. The winery is known for its red, particularly merlot.

After a stop for lunch (additional cost) you'll continue your Chilean wine experience at Concha y Toro. Founded in 1883 by Don Melchor Concha y Toro, the winery is today the largest producer of export wines in Chile. Your tour takes in the landscaped gardens of the colonial house, the vineyards themselves as well as a full explanation of the wine making process, including the modern processing plant and the old cellars.

This was a fun day trip from the city; very close if you want a winery experience and don't want to travel far. Tour was very good and fun, as was the wine tasting.

This was a really terrific tour! We had such a great time, and the wineries were both terrific. Cousino Macul had a smaller, more personal feel, and Concha y Toro was more of a production-two very different places, but both with very good wine! My only change would be to include either time for lunch or have a lunch included. We were picked up at 10:30am and we returned about 6pm. We had about 8 minutes to get empanadas at the restaurant at Concha y Toro, which was a lifesaver!

The wine is HANDS DOWN amazing....You just need to actually go and do the tastings. I bought a Viator deal with the basic tastings too. I wasn't too fond of the actual tour. I had bought a Viator tour that included Cousino Macul and Concha y Toro...I will say that I enjoyed the tours of Cousino Macul and the wine from Concha y Toro.. A definite must visit if you go to Santiago!!
