Combine two of Catalonia’s most iconic experiences in a single excursion: the spirituality and landscape of Montserrat with the winemaking tradition of a family-run winery. You’ll set off from Barcelona by coach and spend around 7 hours exploring the mountain, the monastery and the region’s flavours.

The first part of the day is devoted to the Monastery of Montserrat, where you’ll take a guided tour and visit the basilica. You’ll then have between 45 and 60 minutes of free time to stroll around the grounds, enjoy the views or explore some of its best-known spots.

You’ll then travel to a Catalan winery housed in a 10th-century medieval castle, which has been owned by the same family for generations. There, you’ll tour the estate, taste three local wines and enjoy a selection of traditional tapas with dessert.

The day begins in Barcelona, from where you’ll travel by coach to the Montserrat mountain range. As you get closer, the landscape changes, giving way to the rocky formations so characteristic of this massif – one of Catalonia’s most recognisable natural settings.

Once there, you’ll take a guided tour of the Monastery of Montserrat, including entry to the basilica. For about an hour, you’ll learn about the history of the sanctuary and the role this place has played as a spiritual and cultural centre.

You’ll then have 45 to 60 minutes of free time to explore the area on your own. You can stroll around, enjoy the views, visit the local produce market or, if your booking allows, visit the Moreneta’s chapel. Some activities require prior booking.

The experience continues at a traditional, family-run Catalan winery, situated in a 10th-century medieval castle. Here, you’ll swap the rocky mountainside for vineyards and wine barrels whilst discovering how the estate’s wines are made and gaining a deeper understanding of the local winemaking tradition.

The tour concludes with a tasting of three wines, accompanied by a selection of traditional tapas and dessert. You’ll then return to Barcelona, bringing to a close an excursion that combines heritage, scenery and gastronomy all in a single day.
