Loved the views at the Haleakala Summit. It was humbling. We reached with plenty of time to spare and so we were able to get good spots for photographing the sunrise. It was extremely windy at the top, so I suggest wearing layers and winter clothes. The breakfast after the sunrise was amazing. One of the best we had in Hawaii!

We had a wonderful morning with Preston on this tour. From the moment we were greeted to the moment we departed, Preston was warm, welcoming, and eager to share everything he could about Haleakala as well as Maui and Hawaii in general. Be prepared for the entirety of the trip — the bus is very nice but the drive is windy; a Dramamine or any other anti nausea med is key if you know you can’t tolerate motion. Pack ginger candy or chews, they can be helpful, too. It’s cold and windy up at the summit — pack layers, wind- and rain-resistant gear, a tight winter hat, gloves, etc. The more you pack/have to wear, the better and more tolerable your experience will be. The breakfast was nice. Personally as someone with food allergies it wasn’t as accommodating but it is what it is. Pack a snack if you wish. Hot coffee was welcomed after being at the summit! It’s a wicked early start but ample time to nap on the drive to/from and truly worth the half day. We were very happy with our experience with Preston and this tour in general.

The most amazing, spectacular, views! Make sure you check the weather forecast for Haleakalā Summit the night before and dress appropriately. Trust me, it really does get c-cold and very windy. Preston was our guide. His depth of knowledge with the geology, history and culture of Maui was singular. Preston exceeded all expectations which perfectly complimented the experience of Haleakalā Sunrise. An experience you won't soon forget!

Preston was an incredible host and guide! The view from Haleakala was amazing. It was cold and windy, so be sure to wear warm clothes, gloves, scarf, coat.
