Step by Step

Your tickets to Hampton Court Palace will take you to a key stage in English history, especially in the Tudor era. The palace was one of Henry VIII's favourite residences, and many of the rooms you'll visit retain the atmosphere and monumental scale of the time.

Inside the palace you can visit the imposing Great Hall, the great Tudor hall where banquets and official receptions were held; Henry VIII's State Apartments, which showcase the power and etiquette of the court; the legendary Haunted Gallery, associated with stories and apparitions; the Great Watching Chamber and other rooms used to control access to the king. You will also have access to the Chapel Royal, one of the most beautiful religious spaces in the palace, and the Wolsey Closet, one of Cardinal Wolsey's original rooms.

The tour continues through the William III Apartments, which represent the Baroque transformation of the palace, and interpretive spaces such as the Georgian Story, which help you understand how life at Hampton Court evolved over the centuries. In the Cumberland Art Gallery you can see a selection of classic works from the royal collection.

Beyond the interiors, the entrance allows you to enjoy the gardens and outdoor spaces of the palace: the ornamental gardens, the elegant Fountain Court, the Pond Gardens, the formal Privy Garden, the more natural areas of the Wilderness, the Rose Garden and the restored Kitchen Garden, which shows how fruit and vegetables were grown for the royal table.

One of the highlights of the visit is the historic Maze, one of the oldest plant mazes in the world, where you can test your sense of direction while having fun wandering through the corridors.

To make the most of your tour, audio guides and digital resources are available, as well as self-guided tours that take you through the different periods of the palace. Sometimes special exhibitions or activities are also included as part of the general admission, which adds extra life to the visit, especially in high season or on special dates.

All in all, these tickets offer a very complete experience: history, art, architecture, gardens and a playful touch with the labyrinth, all in one place and at your own pace.

Beautiful place, although some of the interior corridors were very crowded and it was not easy to stop and read. Still, very good.

So much history in one place. I recommend a leisurely visit so as not to miss any of the spaces.

The audio guide was good, although a little slow at times. Still, the overall experience was very positive.
