Experience Highlights

If you love innovation on wheels and Scandinavian architecture, World of Volvo is your must-see stop in Gothenburg. This immersive new space immerses you in the brand's origins, its commitment to safety and its vision for the future, all in a stunning wooden building inspired by the Swedish forests. Your skip-the-line entry gives you direct access to the showrooms and interactive experiences, concept cars and driving simulators.

Located next to the Korsvägen event district, the venue is easily accessible by tram, bus or on foot from Liseberg. The tour is self-guided and suitable for all ages: from "mini-mechanics" assembling their first car to classic Amazon nostalgics. At the end, a panoramic café serves fika with a view of the skyline and the official boutique offers collectible models and sustainable souvenirs.

Step by Step

As soon as you walk through the plywood atrium, a multi-sensory tunnel takes you back to 1927, the year the first Volvo left the factory in Hisingen. Wraparound screens recreate the original assembly line, while real metal parts emerge from the wall to form the iconic PV4. One more twist and the exhibition jumps to the present: an augmented reality area shows how driver assistance algorithms 'read' urban traffic to avoid collisions, and you can try it out in a 180° simulator that reproduces the rain on Sweden's west coast.

In the Concept Lab area, the stars are the electric EX90 and a prototype autonomous car clad in recycled fibres. Touch the door, switch on the interface and see how the intelligent cockpit reacts when you switch the lighting from "work mode" to "relax mode". Nearby, the "People First" exhibition pays tribute to safety innovations: three-point seat belts, roll cages and side airbags are explained with cutaway models and ultra-slow-motion video impact tests.

For the little ones - and the young at heart - the "Kids at Wheel" room offers pedal-powered mini-car circuits, design stations where you choose your body colour and a rally photo-call that captures your jump in high definition. Each section ends with an interactive challenge that connects your visit with a digital scoreboard indicating how many lives each advance has saved.

The top floor houses the panoramic walkway: a glassed-in balcony overlooking the sea and the shipyards where it all began, reminding you that Gothenburg is still Sweden's industrial capital. Before you leave, stop in the shop: exclusive scale models, technical clothing and accessories made from reclaimed airbag materials give meaning to Volvo's circularity philosophy.
