Step by Step

This walking tour allows you to discover the darker side of Valladolid, a city that has been the scene of many supernatural episodes. Several actors will take turns along the tour, explaining the most curious and mysterious anecdotes. The night tour lasts just under 2 hours and focuses on the following points of interest:

  • Las Francesas Shopping Centre - At the height of this place you will hear the legend of a scribe who went down in history for a prophecy of death fulfilled.
  • Paseo de Zorrilla - A ghost rider can sometimes be spotted in the city. His spirit has not found peace and has been wandering around Valladolid since the time of the Inquisition.
  • Plaza Santa Ana - Perhaps not everyone knows that a former mayor of the city, Rodrigo Ronquillo, was a real demon. His iron fist against the insurrection of the Comuneros de Castilla made him hated by many.
  • Plaza Mayor - In the past, this square was the privileged theatre of executions. One of the most illustrious victims was the Castilian nobleman Álvaro de Luna, who was beheaded here on 2 June 1453.
  • Calle Platería - After the execution, the head of the Condestable de Luna was exhibited in this same street, in a chain culminating in the sculpture of a gargoyle.
  • Church of San Benito El Real - In this stage, the actors will tell you the story of Doctor Eugenio Torralba and his goblin Zaquiel, who was able to fly and predict the future. His supernatural abilities attracted the interest of the Inquisition.
  • Palace of Fabio Nelli - Within the walls of this building is a cursed object: the Devil's Armchair. According to legend, whoever sits on it does not survive.

As this is a night tour, it is advisable to wear comfortable shoes and, in case of winter, clothes that protect you from the cold. Valladolid is one of the coldest capitals in Spain.

It was a nice experience, although it was more frightening than I expected. Despite this, I found all the stories and facts that were told during this night tour very interesting.
