Among the gallery’s most notable works are Goya’s ‘Saturn Devouring His Children’, Velázquez’s ‘Las Meninas’ and Bosch’s ‘The Garden of Earthly Delights’.

As for its construction, the principal architect was Juan de Villanueva, who designed the original building. This museum is also brimming with drawings, prints, photographs, decorative arts, weapons and armour, medals, books and maps, amongst many other valuable objects.
