Step by Step
Enjoy an incredible journey on a private excursion to Valporquero Cave lasting approximately 4.5 hours, departing from León. On the way you will cross the picturesque Torío River Valley and stop in Vegacervera, a charming village characterized by its Roman bridge and impressive Hoces de Vegacervera. You can marvel at the imposing rock walls.
You will then ascend to the Valporquero Caves, located at an altitude of 1300 metres. Once inside, you will feel its cool temperature, around 7ºC. You will enjoy a guided tour of about an hour and a half.
You will be able to admire the five rooms of the caves with their incredible stalactites and stalagmites:
- Hall of the Four Lakes: its name comes from the four underground lakes found in it.
- Hall of Wonders: one of the most impressive, known for housing a great variety of formations, such as stalactites, stalagmites and columns.
- Hall of the Organ: it is characterised by the presence of large columns and formations that resemble the pipes of an organ.
- Hall of the Macaroni: it owes its name to the numerous cylindrical formations that adorn it, similar to macaroni or spaghetti.
- Hall of Shells: it stands out for its impressive formations in the shape of seashells, the product of the accumulation of minerals and sediments.
