Step by Step

Live a unique artistic experience at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA), a cultural jewel located in the heart of the city. This museum is renowned for its innovative architecture and for housing one of the most important collections of contemporary art in Europe.

With this ticket you can explore both the permanent collection, which includes works from the 1940s to the present day, and temporary exhibitions of national and international artists at your own pace. The tour is divided into three key periods of contemporary art: from 1940 to 1960, from 1960 to 1970, and the most recent production.

During your visit, you can admire pieces by iconic figures such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring, as well as get to know emerging artists who are setting the pulse of art today. What's more, the free audio guide in Spanish, Catalan and English will give you an in-depth understanding of the works and their historical and cultural context.

The architectural design of the museum, by Richard Meier, is also part of the experience: large spaces, natural light and clean lines that perfectly frame the works on display. Don't miss the MACBA bookshop, famous for its designer gifts created by artists.

In addition to the museum there is a library with a variety of books, all very interesting. What I did was to dedicate a full day to the museum and another day I sat down to look at all the content of the books.

The best thing about this experience is that if you don't have enough time or you want to leave, that's fine. You have the option of going another day to finish seeing the works of art or enjoy other exhibitions.
