Step by Step
Step into the heart of Porto and contemplate its skyline from the top of the Torre dos Clérigos, one of the city's most representative monuments. This baroque tower, more than 75 metres high, dominates the city skyline and is visible from many corners, attracting thousands of visitors every year.
Designed by the influential architect Nicolau Nasoni and completed in 1763, the tower is part of a complex that also includes the Igreja dos Clérigos, whose ornate façade reflects the splendour of Portuguese Baroque art. Climbing its 225 steps is an experience that rewards you with a 360° panoramic view over Porto and the Douro River.
In addition to the tower, your ticket includes access to the Clérigos Building, where you can visit two permanent collections. The Irmandade dos Clérigos Collection offers a glimpse into the history and legacy of the brotherhood, while the Christus Collection exhibits religious art from different periods, with pieces that invite spiritual and artistic reflection.
The tour is free, so you can explore it at your own pace. If you wish, you can coincide with the weekly masses: on Saturdays at 17:00 in English and on Sundays at 21:30 in Portuguese, an excellent way to experience the spiritual component of the place.
Whether for its architecture, its symbolism or its unforgettable views, the Torre dos Clérigos is a must-see for any visitor to Porto.
