Step by Step

Embark on a scenic cruise along the River Douro and discover Porto from the deck of a traditional rabelo boat, a historic vessel once used to transport wine from the valley to the wine cellars in Gaia. Choose a date when you make your booking and on that day you can select your preferred time, subject to availability, at the jetty. There are departures every 30 minutes during operating hours, so there’s plenty of choice to find the one that suits you best.

During the 50-minute cruise, you’ll sail from the Cais de Vila Nova de Gaia, passing under the six iconic bridges that connect both banks: a parade of architectural ingenuity ranging from centuries-old structures to modern engineering marvels.

As you glide along the calm waters, you’ll be captivated by the views of the Ribeira and Vila Nova de Gaia, with their colourful façades and red-tiled roofs, the Monastery of Serra do Pilar, the Crystal Palace and the Port wine cellars – all bearing witness to centuries of history and tradition.

A perfect trip to relax, take photographs and soak up the maritime spirit of Porto.

Short cruise but intense in history and structures. I missed the name of the final bridge, but I would do it again.

Good tour for families without early mornings. Easy to find and you get a different view of the Da Vinci River.

Great for a break between visits. I would have liked to go slowly under the bridge, but it took a second.

Seeing the São João and Maria Pia bridge from the water gives you another perspective on Portuguese engineering.
